I an wondering if it is dangerous to overtighten the shock blocks on the mbs matrix 2 trucks. I want the extra stiffness without buying stiffer blocks but i read somewhere that it would be dangerous. Any1 have any input?
are you tightening them to the point that they are being pushed off the base by the screw? I have noticed that doing that can lead to instability in specific scenarios but I have tightened to right before that point and never got any weird behavior.
I don’t think so yet. The manual is saying that the bottom of the shock should not exceed the top of the hangar channel, not sure if they are talking about the metal bottom or the bottom of the rubber. If that’s the limit then ill need a set of new blocks unless I’m wrong.
I keep about a 1mm gap between the hanger and shock block base in preload personally and no issues.
Yeah that’s what I’ve gone off, I interpret that as the base of the shock block or that metal/chome part. If you are getting new shock blocks anyways I highly recommend the adapter set from radium to use riptide bushings, it will completely change your board and allow for way more turn while keeping stability or you can run harder ones and get insane stability and keep good bit of turn.
Grey rear and white front riptides still can turn well and require absolutely zero skill to get to 50mph, You can have the worst weight distribution in the world and it won’t budge at any speed I’ve gotten to. If you want a carve setup it makes that way better as well but I haven’t spent as much time on a looser bushing so I am not sure but I know people who have gotten the green/white combo to around 50mph
Thanks for the info. I was planning to get radium adapters in a few months, i just wanna get out and ride before the summer is over. Ill take your advice on the gray/white combo as im more of a high speed rider.
I waited a long time to get the adapters and the Riptide Bushings.
And as soon as I got them I was so mad at myself.
They are such a game changer.
If you can, don’t wait!!!
Yeah I lucked out that @dskate was changing up his setup and I snagged his, I definitely agree. I’m sending my red MBS blocks to @SkilHasnoName in the meantime. I’m around 220lb geared up and red rear/orange front was a good combo for me.
