Onewheel xr battery cells choice

I’m building a battery for a onewheel xr. (don’t judge me). I’m just debating what cells to use. Either p28a or m35a. I obviously want as much range as possible but I’m thinking the higher out put of the p28a might give more usable range when the charge gets lower?. Any opinions greatly appreciated. Pack will be 15s3p. Thanks

You’re right. At any point when discharging at more than a couple of amps the P28A will give you more run time. At 10A per cell (30A for your 3P pack) it’s about 25% more.

Here’s my table with actual run time/performance data for different 18650’s. The higher the E-Score, the longer the cell will run: 18650 Battery Ratings and Performance Table | E-Cigarette Forum

Thank you for the reply, it’s nice to have it confirmed. I’ll go with the p28a then. I always like cells that can keep the amps up longer. Thanks for all your amazing work on this subject.

My XR battery is finally dying after 3200 miles and I’m finally gonna build that 15sp3 I’ve always wanted. Curious if you ever did go with those Molicel p28a cells? I have drawn up my 45 battery schematic and it all makes sense. About to hit that order button on some .2mm nickel strip and just hesitate on the 50 battery’s. Did you use an existing cbxr/jwxr schematic? I drew mine up based on math and photos. Any pointers of do’s or don’t be4 I take this deep dive of this build? Any suggestions would be much appreciative.

You guys really should consider going with 21700 cells and higher voltage.
The performance difference is unreal.

Initial warning: I don’t have a single wheel balance device, and am in pretty unfamiliar territory discussing onewheel stuff.

I can however, pretty confidently say that following Chibatterysystems methodology for battery building is a poor decision.

This post (as always, thank you @jaykup for the write-up) details a number of inadequate practices that resulted in failed and potentially dangerous batteries.

The whole thread has a lot of info on why CBS is an unreliable battery supplier but this post is the most information dense, well written piece of info I could find in that thread.

What @Soflo said. @TheBoardGarage also has some good OW specific info on his YouTube Mario is also a reputable battery builder around these parts.
(Edited for clarity: Mario/TheBoardGarage has onewheel specific battery building experience and as far as I’ve seen adheres to all of the highest standards we’ve developed in battery building)

What ESC are you running? I’ve been thinking about VESCing my XR soon

I’ve got 3 boards.
2 running little foccer 3.1 and
one running little foccer 4.0.
Right now i think the cast fungineer box controller combo is the best deal out there.

I though that the XRV was still only 15s

Xrv is not really th way to go. Do a real vesc conversion. Or drop in a fungineers box

You’re totally right I completely forgot about Fungineers
