Old VESC v4.10 BLDC

I’ve been out of this DIY world for some years and wanted some advice… I have a skateboard I built 8+ yrs ago with these programa le VESC. Unused a program called BLDC on windows 7…

Does the new VESC program work on the older controllers to modify the settings ??

The old BLDC tool is deprecated. The new VESCTool should work fine although it might not have a compatible updated firmware.

You’re good! Install a known good version of VESC tool (or the most recent if you’re feeling daring). V4.0, 4.10 and 4.12 are still supported HW.

Awesome I was able to get the free version from VESC project. I’ll try to connect up later this week and report back

Old firmware should work fine, and assuming it does, don’t update the firmware unless something breaks or doesn’t work properly.

Only update if necessary.

I would stick to 10S max voltage in FOC mode – or – 12S max voltage in BLDC mode with this hardware and be very conservative with your battery current, like 15A. The motor current can go significantly higher, like 60A or more.

I was able to try and connect and One vesc connected but it told me the firmware was too old and it was in limited connection mode. I browsed in the different menus and didnt see any useful info or connection. I then disconnected the cable and when i went to connect again the computer doesnt recognize it at all. i tried two computers no luck. What should i do to get the usb to read again and how do i go about updating firmware? Im running Vesc 6.05.exe

ok i got past the usb connection issue and this is the firmware info it shows. Still need guidance on how to move on from here.
