old Evolve GTX esc battery error (only slow mode)

Hello. I have old Evolve GTX. Maybe GTX, I do not know exactly. It was problems with water inside, was a lot of oxides everywhere! I cleaned everything, changed old 10S1P 10ah cells to 10S3P 21700, but old bms was broken (did not turned off by button). With new not original bms with only + and - contacts (small size ob new bms was the only way to use with 30pcs 21700), esc works, but at the info tab it is “bat error”. I conected back original bms with old cells and 4+2 pins (2 pins for turn on-off but it is always ON), but error still there =( Owner of this skate told me that it should be MED and FAST modes too. How to solve this problem? Maybe reset error or what? I have no experience with evolve chineese products.

You need the original bms and you need to connect the balance wires.

If you need a replacement for the original bms, get in touch with Mark at www.marsen.com.au

Suprised that battery is ok. The one GTX I have seen had a “new” battery, seems they stored it wrong also not installed and it was very puffy.

it is original bms with all connected wires on the photo

You havent got the balance wires connected. It won’t work without them

anyway, it is 6Ah there, not 10Ah anymore. And maybe 1 of 10pcs is 4-5Ah. Now it is 15Ah (3P Samsung 50S)

I have enough experience to do not forget to do it =)

I’m guessing you haven’t connected them in the correct order, or the bms is broken.

Why are your photos showing the original pack and not the new pack?

Why do you need a photo of the new packaging?

I have already written that I have enough experience not to make such banal assumptions.

I’m trying to help you, not sure why you’re getting so defensive.

Those bms talk to the esc over UART. If something is wrong with the battery or the bms, it won’t let the board operate outside of safe mode.

Detailed photos of your current setup and battery build may help diagnose what is wrong with your board.

If you are certain that your wiring is correct, the next step I would suggest would be to purchase a new bms from the website I linked above

Where abouts are u? I’ve a tonne of evolve bms leftover from old stock . Also current pics would definitely help

Norway, near Trondheim.

This adventure will only end in disappointment, given the work required to benefit achieved.

This is a balanced working pack, cells are puffy, the esc is good.

That wires held by pliers is a canbus type connection to the esc. They must be used together.

Either change battery, esc, remote, and bms to all diy

Or get a decent new or acceptably pre owned battery bms, potentially esc. And stay bone stock.

Yes, this was only one way what I offered to the owner of this skate. New normal ESC + receiver + RC.

If I will change BMS to new one, it is possible that this problem will stay, because problem with firmware of esc of trashvolve.

I literally just finish packing stuff I promised to send to people 2 weeks ago. I can’t be trusted to send any in under a 2wks.

Your esc is toast for sure. Bms might be good, I have mixed feelings about saying anything other than, “don’t play with lipos unless you want to find out” (at least at the single cell level.)

I dunno man, I did it at one time and it was stupid. I’d sent esc, bms, and battery for just shipping…. But it would be a waste for puffed lipos. And it would go by… boat?

I think my lvl of english is not so good to understand clearly what you mean =) But I understand that was no sense to fu… “get sex” with this old components, but owner told that “all was alive, only it did not turded off bu button, you brocken it” =)

If you go to 5.49 in this video it will tell you how to get the battery diagnostic screen up on the remote.

Would be good to see that screen

My plan to order Go-FOC DV4s + receiver + RC. And repair this skate and forget about this as a nightmare, but maybe this error is software and it needed just reload?

Everything to make a running stock board with a retro fitted 10s4p pack is in the picture.

Samsung 30T cells are $40 usd for 20 of them. Probably closer to $100 total, they might even do international shipping, I got the identical IR tester from them. you might already know then.

I was going to tell @SternWake to use these cells in that enclosure with the 3d printed riser that’s shown.

He doesn’t need esc or bms. My project plate is 110% full. Hope I didn’t derail thread. I was just in a similar situation. Given a working but older board. Felt bad about parts lying around.
