"Nothing Fancy", A Tito Duality truck build

When you were at carve did you see what @jack.luis did with Rocinante?

I can’t seem to find a picture at the moment but he’s got full coverage with skid plates stuck on there with 3m tape. Seems relatively cheap and easy, plus you could still do something like tap threads in the metal for mounting the spark rods.

I did see that, definitely is a good solution.

Slightly different use case though- my scraping is localized more on the edges of the enclosure, so I’d wear through the edges of a plate pretty quickly.

I’m was shooting for a something that’s more easily replaceable. Not sure there’d be enough depth for threads, but might be worth a shot. TBD, thanks.

What alloy are those rods?

I’ve had similar on my enclosure for a couple years. .080” alum skid plates. They work great.

Yeah you have a lot more clearance than me when going in a straight line.

I added my skid plates because my ebp enclosure is about 3 years old now and is getting thin in some places

Yeah… They didn’t lost long. Back to the drawing board.

@Titoxd1000 graciously made me a hanger with longer axles so I could run Hubba hubs with the Apex Drives
He’s considering 10mm customs too, you know who you are

Swapping over my rear hanger involved stripping it apart, and rebuilding it with the new hanger.

I gave the Jump drive bolts a nice ISO bath before applying some fresh loctite

Only took it out for a brief test ride, but already loooove how it feels.
Thanks @HAIRYMANJACK for the Hubba Hubs and CST tires :blue_heart: :blue_heart:

The CSTs seem to want to scream even louder then my Kendas did :scream:
Super excited to push them on track Tuesday- The SD Zoo lot has the screachiest possible asphalt.

I’ll be running CSTs for the next couple weeks, but I’ve got a fresh set of NOVAs that I plan to race with for EE San Fran next month.

Interesting, when disassembling my corded tires, I noticed that one of the hubs had adopted the serrations of the Kenda’s bead.

Looking closer, I noticed there was a whole thin layer of rubber deposited, seems to be bonded to the plastic. Perhaps I overheated a tire… but still Weeeeird. Anyone ever see something like this? @MBS ?
(mostly unaffected hub on the left)

Bonus: Huey and Louie being Box Kitties

From the steel stock left over from Ankle Wreacher’s front box, I cut up a bunch of corner plates. Thanks @MoeStooge for lending his shop!

Glued on with hot glue.
Sorry, **hot melt adhesive

I haven’t seen anything like that before.

It’s tough to tell from a picture, but my first impression is that the “deposited material” looks more like melted hub material than melted rubber material (the tire doesn’t look damaged at all). In theory the melting points should be similar… but that depends on the exact formula Kenda uses for their tires.

The RSII hubs would have to get VERY hot to melt (>220-250C), so it’d be surprising, but definitely not impossible. My hypothesis could be wrong of course. I’m just going off of what I see in the photo.

Has anyone else ever seen or heard of MBS RSII nylon hubs melting like that?

Now your board technically has armor plating.
Thats Cool AF.
Also cant wait to screech tires Tuesday!

This is how “Scooter” tires tell you that they can no longer hang with you!

That’s something fancy, not “Nothing Fancy” lol

Noticed the lack of deck lean. I think the owner bought that board specifically to use dualities which he will make the switch to soon.

Ah darn, you’re totally right. I should’ve noticed before posting it😂

Those hyper trucks felt like there was a cat inside the enclosure bouncing off the walls trying to get out. Shocked I was able to get that much lean angle😂
