New VESC controller from Tronic

If I’m reading this, right, the company behind some fast/fancy US-made Rion scooters partnered with Tronic to develop a high power VESC-based controller. I might be mistaken, but I think Rion are also “Alien Rides,” or they’re just closely related.

It’s selling for $400 with a fall delivery estimate. Since it’s designed for scooters that don’t all run 2wd, it powers a single motor.

Not much details about it yet, just thought some people here might be interested.

Dude 20s at 150 amps is wild. That’s like >10,000 watts per motor :joy:

Wowwww, OK. They have my attention now. I can’t see myself looking for that much power on an esk8, but maybe a future bike/scooter thing. Out of curiosity, any idea approximately how much they weigh?

If you got that much power does the weight really matter? :joy:

I did not weigh them, but they are very light, nothing to be worried about

Let me put it in context – I live in a walkup apartment. Part of the appeal of esk8s is that there are very few other options for vehicles that are fun, fast enough, and can be dragged and up and down the stairs without it feeling like a production.

I can’t see myself spending $800 just on controllers only to under power them by a lot, but I suppose I’ve made worse decisions.

Not quite. It’s limited to 100 battery amps which puts it at 7kw. The tronic 250 is very similar to the little focer performance wise, which are both made by shaman anyways
