I feel like, as a community, everyone should probably just let go of Future Motion and any of their vehicles or accessories or designs. I’d pass on this. Better designs can be had. Better designs that involve less attorney-vultures stifling innovation and competition.
I think the only way we’d get a 6" is a preorder /GB/ kickstarter.

I’m the first to agree, but atm. I just can’t make myself do it. I want to use all the comfortable accessories like float plates, rail guards, grips, bumpers… (in addition to tires which is a real deal breaker on the motor) DIY may just not get to that level, and also eventually you need some “standards” so that the accessories and parts fit. Right now it seems to me XR/Pint are the standards and if we can just eventually replace it all, we shall be free!
Well, they already increased the stator size, I would guess increasing the rim size shouldn’t be too hard either?
Two motor option would be ideal, one compatible with Pint tires and one compatible with XR tires.
Then you also need to offer two rail options, one compatible with Pint footpads and accessories and one with XR footpads and accessories. Floatwheel should of course make their own footpads that can be ordered with the rails. This allows DIYers to build their own wheel to their own specifications whilst also enjoying the vast aftermarket support onewheels have.
There is nothing wrong with accessories from flight fins or craft and ride.
The stator is assembled and the rim is cast, so changing the rim size is significantly more difficult.
Time for me to get some bitty. Fuck FM and their trumped up horseshit claim. #fuckFM
I called it
Hey where can I find or how can I find information on what patients future motion holds?
Found them and several other people who have patents on similar vehicles. I am no expert but I don’t see how they can hold onto this idea if different hardware and software is being used? They can’t own the patent on the hub wheel motor…they don’t have a patent on the batteries… if other people have patents on almost identical things why can’t float wheel just get some of their own with some design changes?
I agree. The patent seemed a bit too general.
@Enginir referring to an email sent from a potential customer to all the previous customers 20 mins ago, can you send an email to everyone with how you want to proceed given the limited time.
I like how the patent is for a “self balancing skateboard” skateboards, by definition, are a completely different world away from balance boards
SKATEBOARD:
a short narrow board with two small wheels fixed to the bottom of either end, on which (as a recreation or sport) a person can ride in a standing or crouching position, propelling themselves by occasionally pushing one foot against the ground.
There isn’t a limited time. Just no PayPal or advertising of products
That’s actually the idea. The more general you can get away with the patent being the easier it will be for the patent owner to apply it to other peoples products claiming to violate their IP. “patent trolling” is very common in the US especially in markets like eskate where there are a small number of companies/people producing and a select few that a relatively large compared to others.
It’s a shame what FM did. They are clearly just against any competition. I hope you will get through this, wish you the best! If you are still around next summer, I will hopefully have the funds to order a kit and support your amazing work!
Alright, so no video content from me then if keeping this less conspicuous is a better idea. No worries about that.
I’m not a very long time member here, but I’m a decently known Onewheel figure, and @Lee_Wright can vouch for me.
I’m happy to send payment however needed, I just really would like one of these.
Many cheers for keeping it going.
Ya I totally understand why. Just sucks lol. And it’s not like the people approving it know anything about it
Sent $1. Thanks for all the work you guys are doing!
