New Board Shopping Propel, Acedeck, Linnpower?

Hello, I’m looking for a prebuilt board around the $1500 range. I have been riding an old Boosted V1 I modified with Elvolve DKP, Flipsky 6374, VESC 6.0, 6” Pneumatics, 12S3P diy batt.

I’m looking to purchase a prebuilt board to just ride along with my daughters who have electric scooters. I’m a bigger guy at 220lbs and we like to ride on very hilly paved trails by our house. Looking for more torque than speed. And something with a realistic range above 15 miles. I have had my eye on the three boards below but certainly open to other reliable prebuilts out there. I would like to have gear drives, pneumatic tires, and a minimum of 63XX motor.

1 Propel Ruckus TKP Gear Drive

2 Acedeck N1 or N3 Gear Drive

3 Linnpower EVO MK-1

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I will try to attach a picture of the Frankenstein Boosted I have been playing with.

I can only speak on the Linnpower Evo MK1 pro but I would say all three of these boards check the boxes you listed .

Im a bigger guy as well the majority of my riding is on hilly paved trails . This board has handled everything I’ve thrown at it with ease . You’ll have no problem getting the range that you stated .

Also , I can attest to the quality of this board . Mine was actually ran over in a parking lot by a Subaru . I watched that baby flex and bottom out under the weight of the front tire . The only damage was minor scrapes to the enclosure .

I’ve hardly touched my two operational DIYs since getting this board . It’s just a blast to ride . Linnpower seems to be a great company who stand by their product. I won’t hesitate to give them my money in the future . As the previous commenter said the OX may be another board to consider . That thing looks like an absolute beast .

Any chance brand new and geardrive are firm preferences? I have a Hoyt Supertabor bundle for sale that I think can work really well for ur use case

Happy to also negotiate to ur budget

Thank you for the suggestions. On the EVO MK1 my biggest hesitation is the trucks mainly the width and turning. On the trails we ride on there can be many obstacles like strollers, dogs, kids on bikes /scooters. With the MK1 channel trucks can you still navigate around people and obstacles at low speeds?
I do like the suggestion of the OX it looks like way more speed than a 47 year old Dad needs but it does address my concerns above with narrower TKP trucks.

Thank you for the reply “gtxd” I am looking for a new board this time. My hope is to have something turn key that I can grab and go with the kids.

The N3 and MK-1 would be my pick. You’ll get more range out of the N3 (14s6p p42A cells, 25.2Ah capacity vs 14s4p 50S cells, 20Ah). You’ll get your desired 15mi out of either for sure, You would just have a bit more headroom on the N3. You can upgrade the ride feel with traditional bushings like Riptide, Venom etc in the N3 TKP trucks if you desire, as opposed to the proprietary bushings in the Linn trucks. They may or may not work with the Lacroix-style bushings that Riptide sells.

The wide channel trucks of the Evo would be the biggest drawback . There was definitely a learning curve for this 56 year old dad . I had no experience with channel trucks or flexi mountain style boards prior . Initially I considered upgrading to Tito’s or Matrix 3s which maybe I will do if I have a little FU money laying around in the future. As for now I feel very comfortable after upgrading to the Lacroix riptide bushings . My Evo came with the adapters needed which was nice . I do fine on slow backside 90 degree sidewalk turns now . Also the paved trails in my area are wide directional ones which make it nice .

What Durometer/color Riptides did you end up going with? A lot of the trails we ride are old single-lane roads closed to motor vehicles. Do you use foot straps? Thank you for the info.

You’d get the same step up in ride feel upgrading to Tito’s that you had from the proprietary bushing to riptide bushing upgrade in the channels. I’ve run Matrix II and BN310 channels for a while and the upgrade to Duality was incredibly well worth it. I legitimately can’t turn with traditional channel trucks now that I’m so used to dualities, even though I could ride pretty good on channels at the time I had them. I’ve not tried matrix III with singularity bushings yet, but those sound very promising as well.

@CTeo I’d consider the Ownboard Prometheus just because it runs Matrix III and you could upgrade to Singularity bushings, getting way better ride feel from the trucks with low effort.

I was going to suggest the Prometheus.

I suppose it’s a little bit more.

And then he would have to add Riptide Singularity.

But I think of Matrix III with Singularity kind of like a poor man’s Dualitys.

And in some scenarios the Matrix III can be even better.

I’m running yellow 90 in the rear and orange 80 in the front with the preload barely snugged down front and back . No bindings , yet .

I’m going back and forth on the Evo or N3. The Promethes looks good, but it is a little higher than I committed to spending. I was out on my Boosted today and came up to some stairs and realized I like to just through it under my arm and run down to catch another trail. My Boosted is only 28lbs. compared to 40lbs or more. I guess with the added range of a new board I would not have to take shortcuts (stairs) as often. I sure appreciate the suggestions would like to get one ordered this weekend.

I don’t know this for sure. Never seen the N3 in person.

But I expect the N3 may feel smaller than the Evo.

Both when moving it around. Carrying. Putting in the car.

And riding in tighter quarters.

The board format of the Evo is my favorite. Similar to my Flux deck.

But it is a type of set up that takes up a ton of room.

The MK1 definitely takes up a lot of room and it’s something you won’t want to lug up and down stairs. Heavy and awkward to carry.

In the pic it dwarfs the Demonseed and LY Evo sitting next to it .

As a general thing all of these bigger power and bigger battery boards will be way heavier and harder to handle.

Most of mine I am able to hold the front truck and pull around like a trolley.

Actually picking them up sucks…

As much as I love the format of that, I think opting for the option with better trucks makes the most sense. Unfortunately traditional channels are pretty lacking in ride feel by today’s standards.

I’d rather take a TKP than a traditional channel truck (only exception being matrix iii with singularity bushings). I think I tried the N3 at esk8con (pretty sure it was the N3) and while certainly not raceboard trucks it actually felt quite decent. And I have a high bar regarding ride feel so that’s really saying something.

If the Evo shipped with Matrix III It would be like the best…

I would take a look at the Zephyr Max pro and save 500 bucks…

Probably great for what you want.

Thank you both for including pictures It was good to see just how wide that Evo is. Looks like it would be a fun board if you have the space to enjoy it.

I looked at that Zephyr Max a few months back and was concerned it would lack hill climbing power or low end tourque based off the wattage specs. Looking at the price by the time I add a gearbox i would be within a couple hundred bucks of the Acedeck.
