So I build my at the time 13 year old nephew a pretty sweet board back in the day. He had an old Arbor Deck, I had some meepo hubs and spare TB4.12 controllers built a 10s3p 30q pack slapped on a vx2 and off he went…
He rode this thing to school for 2 years!!!
(Pics coming…it looked really nice for a min)
A few days ago I get a phone call from him and he is talking to me about a new drivetrain, he says he would really love some AT tires and if the board was a bit more water resistant. No problem, send it over I tell him.
It also would not turn on
So I give my homie a call…he tells me in order to turn it on you have to “press on the controller enclosure really hard with your fist and spin one of the wheels”…. so you can imagine my surprise at this point.
This is what happened with most of his board in the span of about 30 mins

If you toss out any PCBs please remove them from the trash and send them to me so I can increase my hoard of pcb components use them as soldering practice.
Those hub motors 100% belong in the trash though. I’ve got two that are the same style and they’re actual trash if you compare them to any decent or subpar hub motors. I’m surprised the bolts on them didn’t also disappear
I also had a cool uncle growing up. He’d swing by in his camper van between touring with his band once every year or two. One year he got me a cheap electric guitar from a pawn shop and I cherished it. I played every single day until my fingers were in pain.
A couple years later he came back. I was so excited to show him how much I improved. I remember we jammed all day and at some point I showed him my dream guitar in a magazine that I was saving up for. He came back a week later and gave me that exact guitar. To this day it’s still one of my fondest memories. You’re an awesome uncle
