Need help with unbalanced battery Ownboard

Hey guys, I have an Ownboard W2 with an unbalanced battery pack, and it seems like the bms does not support balancing. I was wondering what people think of opening up the battery and replacing the bms with one that does support balancing? It is a 10s3p with 30Q cells.

How do you know this?

Also, have you checked each P-group? What are the voltages? Have any gone below 2.5V?

It the voltage stays at 41.4V even when it is plugged into the charger for a long time (a week)

I have not done that. Would I have to open up the battery to do that?

what voltage ur charger is outputting

It says 42V on the charger.

no, the actual voltage, not what the piece of label says

Haven’t checked. I will try to do that now.

The charger is outputting 41.5V

It sounds likely your battery is working as intended, and is ready to ride.

I forgot to mention that my battery cuts out early.

Maybe the bms was designed to start balancing at around 41.8V but since the charger isn’t reaching that the battery is not balancing?

That is possible. Some chargers have an internal Vmax adjustment potentiometer. If it’s a cheap one, I doubt it. Do you have another charger?

If one P-group is 0.5V lower, then it could certainly cause the BMS to cut off sooner, depending on how it’s set up, of course.

I don’t have another charger. Just the one that came with the board.

What do you mean by that? Please elaborate.

The battery cuts out at around 35%

Thats sounds like a bad p-group which gets to a lower voltage first and then the BMS cuts out to save the cells.
