Need brains - I wanna make bike brakes for my skates

So guys let’s open 2020 with novelties!

First I need to brainstorm about how to make u brakes or v-brakes for my frames.

Simply put I seek progressive mechanical braking to complete my setup. As is it is too dangerous to keep pushing higher speeds DH without proper brakes.

Keeping the momentum and sliding my way out does really take a toll on the thighs and ankles, specially when road is bad. So mechanical brakes would actually be a huge add up for safety.

Do you have experience in braking with bikes? BMX, mountain bike, whatever. I will gladly take any input.

So far I plan to make a jaw with a cable running on my boot and attached to my leg, so when I pull the cable it bites the wheel or a disk inside the wheel. Braking force depends on how much I pull it.

Let me know your thoughts!

Not exactly sure of your design restrictions but are you trying to only brake one wheel per skate or all?

I imagine a razor scooter like fender you can use the brake cable on to slow your roll

Yes one wheel is enough for braking :fire:

Ideally I’d like to preserve the wheel patch s much as possible since already erodes when riding tho

Maybe just copy this? You step on the bar and it presses sacrificial pads against the wheels

Maybe be creative with something like this

Rollerblades guys

Connect a plate to front wheels, and mount a hydraulic brake to the trucks. Basically looks like what trampa did

What about a traditional heal break that’s on a mechanical lever

No trucks on rollerblades

Sidewall seems the best option then. The contact patch on mtb disc brakes is pretty small, you might be able. To cut one down to the required resistance level if it’s too big.

What about this if you’re feeling wealthy?

And how exactly would you mount those on Rollerblades?

Ooooh rollerblades…I may not have fully read the first post. I’m dumb

Watching this and sniggering because I can see you at the screen shouting

fucking rollerblades!

Mount hydrualics to the back so they come around to the back wheel and mount some sort of plate to both sides.

Pretty much lol

Could you try make a schematic?

And yes guys, sorry I didn’t make clear in first post but it’s for Rollerblade :pray:t4:

Wanting to either brake middle or rear wheel!

@Venom121212 @Skunk how would you go about the actuated heel brake idea?

This thing won’t brake my wheel… It will brake the road itself  me like!

It’s super strong btw!
