My Esk8s. A journal of sorts

This is great to hear; I have a Demonseed 44 build coming up.

So what was in the Other Demonseed I just took apart was the original psychotiller 10s6p pack that is still going strong and OG Focboxes along with the the old Flipksky 6374 motors (my first set of 6374 motors…)

Another board I had that was out of commission was the Rayne Rival Cartoon.

So I decided to use the good parts to get this going again.

So the pack and the Focboxes are going on the Rayne Cartoon in the Argonaut enclosure I had on the DB Paradigm (now retired)

So you know… Just a basic parts remix.

I had the motors mounted forward and had to put then to the back which is good I decided to do because they were rubbing through the phase wires.

I also decided to put on blacked out blue Caguamas instead of just the blues I had on there.

I like this deck and the aggressive concave it has.

The power delivery feels great.

I bet with these 85 mmwheels at 14/34 I’m going to get a ton of range.

Yep. With 220 boardnamics hangers… Freaking awesome. That board is just so giant and spacious and comfortable.

So I had taken down the Paradigm.
One of the Demonseed’s was down. And another one went down…

And turns out the DB Coreflex took a more prominent spot in the rotation.
The 10s4p battery does great 17-18 miles.
And when I put on the 100mm Boas it became extra comfortable and able to just roll over most anything.
Funny how it started as a neighborhood only board to play around in.

So I thought I would upgrade the esc from the Flipksky dual 4.20 plus.
I tried to put the new Unity I got from the raptor shop whatever and it was bad…

So I put in the Flipksky Dual 6.6 plus which instills more confidence.

I also have 3dservisas pulleys coming to make it extra nice.

A little trick I figured out recently is to use a paint marker and draw a line across the motor can. That way if it’s rubbing on anything, you can quickly see a missing spot in the line.

This weekends fun project.

Tayto to Coyote.

So I was pretty proud of my little Tayto build.
It has my first ever battery pack I built and I painted it and had it looking all snazzy…

But guess what… I did not love the way it felt.
Some of it may have to do with it being a single drive. It does ok. But not near the torque of dual 6354s…

I think it really had more to do with the deck and the trucks.
I was hung up on keeping the ride height low as had to used 2x 1/4 inch risers. But still had wheel bite with the 85s. So I got some super hard riptide bushings.
It did away with the wheel bite but the ride was not very flowy…

So the Tayto got little love…

Then I saw. Couple sweet builds on the Coyote and got to thinking I would do a deck swap…

A deck swap. A truck swap. And a wheel swap…

As some of you might know I have a hard time measuring stuff so I was totally tripping thinking I might actually fit this enclosure on the Coyote with the motors forward mounted…
Yep tripping.
I could not actually fit the enclosure in there without the wheels hitting… I had to drill out new holes to move both the front and back trucks out a bit.

But in the end it all fit and looks totally adorable.

The motor actually sits up high enough I can tic tac and do little manuals without it hitting.

I did 14 miles around town in it today and it was pretty fun.

The motor does get pretty hot…

Hey. Took me a bit but done and done…

Deck swap from a couple weeks back. May 25th.

Hasta la Vista DB Coreflex.
Bien venido Rayne Crush.

I have been enjoying the DB Coreflex. It was my only set up with a really flexy deck. And only one with a camber.

But it felt a little narrow. And I wished it had more concave.

So I took to the internets to find a similar board and ended up going with the Rayne crush.
Almost the same wheel base.
Also flexy.
A little bit wider.
And concave pedals which are nice.

I also took the time to dye the Boas. I wanted orange but they ended up red.
All good…

The other thing I changed was the esc enclosure.
I was using the Wowgo aluminum enclosure.
And changed to the Meepo ER battery enclosure.
It was nice to have more room in there.

Oh and I almost forgot. Just remembered while looking at the pictures.
But I also changed the motors.

Took out the maytech 6354s 170kV.
And put in my old Flipksky 6374s 190kv.
Last time I went on a ride on the maytech weird shit was happening. And may have been signal issues but I am not sure.
So I just slapped the Flipkskys on there. They had no home.

I was super stoked to fucking drill through the deck when working on the inserts.

Pissed.
This deck is extra thin at less than 10mm…

Got the inserts on there and new gaskets.
The Flipksky 6.6 dual plus got attached to the deck.

I love the look of this deck and had a hard time wanting to put grip tape on…

I got what I wanted with this deck. The added width and concave make for much better foot placement.

Off course like with everything there is an issue.
And it comes down to me being stupid…
If you weigh 225 don’t guy the soft flex deck.
It just might be too flexible.

And it is. A bit too on the bouncy side and with any bouncing and turning I am scraping the battery enclosure…

So I went ahead and ordered the hard flex one.
So I get to look forward to the deck swap of shame…

I also decided to order the TB 100 mm 74a wheels today to replace the Boas.

The Boas slip sometimes when I am not wanting them to and I just want grippy and cushy…
Hope the TBs gimme what I need in the 100mm package.

I’m definitely stoked I changed the Tayto with the standard caliber trucks to the coyote with the 9 inch Caliber IIs.
I really like this little guy.
Had a nice 10 mile ride in the neighborhood today.
It really seems faster than it is,

being so little.
Tonight felt like a throwback to my first esk8 days, riding the single drive metroboard in the neighborhood.

And there goes another new beginning…

Ok.
So a little catching up.

More action on the Rayne Crush.

First was the deck swap of shame.

Stupid me at 225 lbs bought the soft flex of this deck.
That was dumb.
Too bouncy.
So I bought the firm flex version.
Mucho more better…

Looked pretty didn’t it.

But I decided to get rid of the now red Boas and put in the TB 100mm 74a.

That was an interesting adventure since I could not get the 3d servisas pulley off of one of the Boas…

I like the look with the black

I also like feel of the TB wheels much better.

They are gummier and grippier and seem more comfortable on rougher roads.

So that was a good change…

Off course on my second ride with the black wheels I get weird shit happening with the motors and the controllers…
These are my old Flipksky 6374s that have seen a ton of miles. They have served me well…
So I decided to get some new TB 6374 motors.

When changing out the motors one of the bullet connectors seemed kinda of too easy to take off… So that may have been the whole issue and I will try to run the Flipksky motors again on another board.

So.
Tons of updates on this set up.

And now it has been running really well

I really like the deck.
Decent little bit of flex without too much bounce.
Great concave and a nice standing platform even though it is smaller than the other big boards I have.

The wheels are feeling pretty damn good.
The motors are really smooth.

And I can get a solid 17 miles out of the 10s4p pack.

So this guy is looking good and is now pretty much on daily rotation.

Hooray.

Ok.

Let’s talk about the return of the “Other Demonseed”
“The Demonseed” was the first one and has the orange hex grip tape. It is still out of commission.
I have to build the 10s5p 40t pack for it and I keep putting that off.

I think I have not actually had both Demonseeds running since December.

But the Other Demonseed saw some action in some variations recently… Six shooters. Then clouds… Then clouds again… Then 110. But recent versions had the old 10s6p pack that was double stacked so with the 110s it rode great but it would scrape a lot.
So that pack went to the Rayne Rival Cartoon.

And both Demonseeds went up on the wall…

Kind of a shame…

I enjoyed the Rayne Rival Cartoon with the Paris trucks and the Caguamas… But really the Demonseed has made all of the shorter boards feel a little funny…

So deck swap it was… I decided I would try the Demonseed top mounted and it might be low enough with the Caguamas…

I painted the bottom with truck bed liner cause I love that shit…

It came together nicely. Bringing back some old parts like dickyho mounts for the Paris trucks and the janux cross bars I bought with my first set of diy mounts…

So I go ride it and it dies on me after 4.5 miles…
Same drive train that was running well on the Rival Cartoon… So I’m like, what the fuck…

One wire came disconnected on the switch.

I’ll freaking take it. Easiest problem I think I have ever had…

So back in business.

Got some Riptide backing plates which is a nice touch.

When I was putting those on I found the world record chunk…

I ran into some weird behavior on a ride with motors stuttering and such so I was going to open it up…

Then boardnamics shows up with more stock on the 184s.

So I ordered those.

I love his trucks and mounts with the single clamp so I was going to wait for those to mess with the board.

I decided to put a set of newer Flipksky 6354s on here that were on my Stoke board( currently out of commission…)

So new axles and mounts. Newer motors. And the newer edition of the dickyho press fit/bolted wheel pulleys.

Looking good.

I took the upgraded board on its mayden voyage today at lunch and it felt great.

Caguamas are magical.
15/36 is a pretty sweet spot on the gearing.

The trucks are not as carvy with the boardnamics axles vs the Paris. But still good. The stance is about an inch wider.

I ran into an issue with one of the mounts moving so the ride got cut short.

But

But I cranked the shit out of them and slathered more loctite everywhere so I should be good on my next voyage.

I am glad to have this giant under my feet again… Just love this deck.
I need to get the other one going with the 220 trucks and the TB 110s soon.

Say what you want, but i bet this kind of shit is caused by the dye.
Can always happen, but this really beats enertion tires hahaha so next time motto is: no dye. no cry :handshake:

I was wondering that too. I don’t think because of one example that this is what caused it, but I’m definitely suspicious
