My Esk8s. A journal of sorts

Ok, ok .
The Flux was a bit more work to harvest.

Luckily I got some help.

Next I ran into a bit of a bump…
I was not sure how to pull the pinion away from the motor.

I banged my head on the table for a while before I realized I could drive bolts past the plate to push on to the motor.

And cool. that started moving it.

And here is where I got stupid.
Pay attention kids.
Don’t be like this.

It was barely moving up so I get long ass bolts and the power drill and start bumping it up.

And off course I break a bolt and can’t get it out.
Fuck a duck…

So one of the holes is blocked now.
It may be possible for me to orient the plate in a way that it does not matter…
Wish me luck.

On the second drive I used shorter bolts and took my time and it went smoothly.

I have figured out better ways to do things and try to me more careful and such and such…
But I really am still impatient and hasty and have to just keep it moving all the time.

And it leads to screwing things up…

But I nothing major today so far. Just a bit of time lost.

I have all the parts separated and can get back to reassembly.

So that’s exciting stuff.
I have 3 boards to put together now.

I’m doing the Gravel Boi later on because there is more happening there.

I’m gonna call it a night.
But I wonder what will be next. The easier straight forward Khymera.
Or the more exciting Flux.

I’m really pumped about the Flux and I really hope this round of changes ends up getting it to a really good state.

Oh man I know the feeling I’m also very impatient and tend to rush things sometimes. I always find later when I get the right tool it’s so much easier lol.

New ESC.
Kinda different.
Had not had to think about how to hook stuff up for a long time.

Here is hoping the Flipsky Bluetooth works.

The solder on the bullets look ok.
I will still touch it up.
One half of the xt90 really didn’t look that good.

I’m going to go with the 5mm bullets here.

Excellent timing @Skyart
Your special sauce showed up just in time for me to slap the New NewBee 55/11s on the Flux.

You only need a tiny bit! You’ll notice the grease will stick to all your gear teeth and the rest will sort of get thrown about the gear case, I hope you like the stuff!!!

I used that stuff in the newbees. They sorta leaked out :joy: but then again you don’t need very much at all in those gears.

This was on the set that exploded by @Yeahthatperson

Is there something you like better for the NewBees?

Here we go again.

Set up on this DV6P is acting odd.

I can’t decide which way to go with the Khymera.

I barely ever get over 30.

So not Sure I should chase a higher top speed.
Maybe for later in the ride.

Or I just go max torque.
Because that is always cool…

And should help a tiny bit with how bad the battery is now.

Maybe I will start torquey and go up from there…

At the very least it seems like you’ll have the most flexibility at 151Kv, imo I’d go torquey if you don’t really go fast. You can also always turn down the amps, if it’s too torquey.

I can’t say I have ever experienced this…

So I did have a rollercoaster of a time last night setting up the DV6P.

It looked to have 6.0 installed on it and I tried to run the wizard from the lastest version of the App on my android phone.

And holy shit all kinds of weird shit happened.
Ran detection ok, and sometimes not on one half
Thenbit would not set up control ok.
Then it seemed to set up ok and it would forgeet it in 30 seconds.
Weird weird cogging…
I was starting to freak out.

Seems I got it working at this very moment.

Uses the PC to upload the special firmware for 5.03

Then the PC tool crashed.

Went over to the phone.

Ran detection ok.
Set up the ppm remote ok.
Set up the power to shut off after 5 minutes.
Which makes the button work.

I have everything plugged into the right side.

These Flipsky motors are screaming when let loose…

Cool.
I got the Flux taped up and the enclosure back on last night.

I have no clue how some folks manage to make this part neat.
Always a rats nest for me.
But hopefully nothing is going to move…
So now I can move on to just assembling the NeeBee drives.

I would hate 30mph top on a board like the khymera, but be ok with it for a thane build. It all depends how fast you usually ride. Hitting max duty cycle on any ride is a bummer. I would choose top speed over torque here.

I have a 10s board and it suuuuucks on torque, but it goes 30mph so it is still quite fun to ride. It’s anemic, but once you’re at speed it is heaps of fun to carve around.

Fast is so relative to age. As age goes up falling becomes more of a pain in the ass, especially if you have a spouse that will make fun of you for crashing on a damn pebble going 1mph.

Of course @Sk8tedad , is an outlier.

You are messing with my mind now…

I was gonna go torque.
Now you got me questioning… Should I go speed.

Note how all new variations are supposed to be torquier than it is now…
I do like how it is now…
Maybe I need to jeep that in the front of my mind.

The odd thing for me is I don’t equate Speed with falling.

Knock on wood most of my falls have happened at lower speeds.
So I guess I don’t know what it may be like coming off at 30.

Either way falling sucks.

I do like cruising at 30… But I don’t necessarily need to chase more speed than that.

The better question is what gearing will allow me to get to 30 comfortably through most of my ride…

CTE and a lack of regard for one’s safety will do that

In may I’ll be 50 years young

If you want more torque you should be looking at higher reduction instead of lower KV. You could also increase your torque by increasing amps slightly if your ESC can handle it.

This is what I am chasing after on my Flux Build that caused a domino effect of shuffling parts.
