My Esk8s. A journal of sorts

Tuese Matrix II Shredlights mounts that @ablairlamb designed are super sweet.

The ones I had always moved around.
These seem perfectly solid.

I need a variation for M3s asap.

Yeah I’m gonna have to get a set of m3 mounts as well. I might do some searching around to see if there’s a file I can use.

Really don’t wanna have to do other lights cause I’ve got a few sl1000s and some rare prototype ones that I actually wanna put to use

I’ve got some M3 mounts for my lighting but no one running them yet - my lights plug into the board tho.

Maybe I’ll consider making my mounts shredlight compatible but that seems counter intuitive lol

Counter intuitive?

Probably because he’s selling his own lights, wouldn’t make much sense to offer mounts for other lights

Yep.
Here we go…

Please tell him not to do this again. He actually hit the absolute limit, and was at the point of nosediving into the ground at 57.3km/h (35.6mph) with no gear. The nosedive happens at 95.0% and he hit 95.0% exactly. We’re just talking about rounding errors at that point. He was within a rounding error of becoming a meat crayon.

Not only would that hurt him, it would hurt his family, and it’s bad look for the entire PEV industry and scene.

On vesc onewheels people set max duty cycle to 99% :man_shrugging:. It just hard cutoffs there, so jo way of passing it.

Yesterday was a pretty cool day.
I sprinkled some rides during the day.

GT warm up in the morning.

I mostly rode switch.
I have the easiest time with that on the GT. But it’s still so far from riding normal.

Gravel Flux for school pick up.

Right after that I jumped on the Rally Cat.

So this set up with the Akashas is amazing, and I just wish everyone could experience something like this.

And it it also so sketchy…
No motor clearance…
I hit the motors all the time…

So as awesome as it is kids… Beware.

So after work the EUC kids came over and I got to try 2 different wheels. A V8F and a V11

And that shit is wildly different and so hard…

After tooling around in front of my house a while went and rode some trails.
I took the GT. But rode the 22S Onewheel and The V8F some.

Thanks @Ean.esk8 for hooking me up with bearings to get the Gravel Boi back on the road.

Now I have some work to do!!!

Did you figure out what killed the previous set of bearings? I thought the drives are somewhat water-proof.

Nope.
Not for sure.
Water definitely got in there.
But I rode in a lot of rain so, pretty extreme conditions

But it is not totally clear the point of ingress.

I am going to try to seal a couple areas when I put this one back together.

And not ride in crazy rain…

Sorry… I got updates from fedex…those sealing clay are banned good, they took it out.

Oh Man.
I will try to find something here locally.

I was thinking about using Butyl tape I use for sealing my enclosures.

Is it difficult to get off if you need to get in an esc or battery case? I might get some myself if it’s alright. Haven’t got any experience with it

It’s difficult, but it’s possible.
It stays sticky and pliable.

I find it easier to take off than silicone, or hot glue.

That is why I like Butyl…since everything is temporary…

Don’t get me wrong. It’s a mess and a pain in the ass.

But it’s doable.

I’ve siliconed my esc case anyways so I’ll probably stick with it. No point taking it apart until something (fingers crossed it never does) goes wrong

Today I did some work on the Omakase battery.

Took steps 6785 to 9023…

Soldering…

Adding the tiny BMS wires.

Exploding with Joy to see it’s alive.

And adding more tape
And fish paper.
And more tape.
And heat shrink

And…
It is not pretty…
But should be robust.

It is nice to get to this point…
But man. Wow. It’s a lot of little steps.
