[MTB] Motor cover / housing

I’m building a MTB with 6374 FS motors and I’m wondering whether I need covers for my motors.

I would like to have them but I only found the Trampa ones which cost a fortune (50 GBP each), like everything from Trampa.

So, my first question is do I really need them, what’s your experience on this? My main concern is water and dust entering inside the motors.
If yes, is there anything else besides Trampa’s “Pro Motor Housing”?

Conformal coat them and epoxy the magnets in place and get riding. We’ve got loads of members here doing crazy shit with their boards without covers.

If you don’t epoxy the magnets in on those flipsky motors there’s a very strong chance they will fall out/shatter. I’d worry about that more.

The conformal coat should be applied in the inside of the motor?

Something like this (although he epoxies everything)?

That’s what i meant but epoxy, “battle hardening”. There’s loads of threads here about it. Coating is for electronic waterproofing

Not sure if you’ve bought the motors or not but they sell sealed motors that run a little hotter but don’t have open air vents.

Fwiw I mountainboard with unsealed cans and lots of dust gets in there. Main motor manufacturers conformal coat their pcbs.

Yeah, already got my motors from Flipsky. Not sure about their PCBs but I think they are sealed.
