Motor washer alternative?

So I’m trying to bulletproof my meepo hubs.

Over my esk8 career I’ve come across multiple posts of meepo hubs jamming up because a washer broke and shreddered between the stator/magnets.

The washer in question is a wave washer, do you guys think it would be alright to swap it with a regular one or is the “shock absorbing” function essential? I thought about drenching it in epoxy but that would hinder its “spring function”, wouldn’t it?

The washer sits behind the stator between axle and another bearing

here some results of broken ones.

I would keep them, take a look at McMaster and see if they have some higher quality ones

The washer is there to take any play if the system, without it it will and the best case maybe rattle or in the worst make the motor fail in a new way

Could you use a crush washer of some kind? Maybe a split washer or serrated washer?

Ooh ooh or a cupped washer

Possibly if i can find them…Well order them since all stores are still closed.

I could imagine the Wave washer breaking over time due to fatigue with all the compressions since the washer is really thin.

Just get a handful of them and replace them regularly?

i think i will replace it once and never again with how much work it is lol.

Any washer you specifically would go for or just stick with the wave kind?

I’m not mechanically minded enough to make a recommendation.

But i would be inclined to replace it with the same type of washer, just better quality as Pedro suggested.
