I have a set of motor mounts from Janux for my TorqueBoards trucks, and have had a hell of a time getting them to work solidly. This seems to be due to the variation in size of the cast trucks and not the quality of the mounts themselves, but at this point I’ve had so many mechanical failures due to the C clamps not being tight enough that I cannot ride the board without spending hours on repairs afterwards.
Things I’ve tried:
- Making a shim to fill the gap in between the clamp and the truck hanger
- Using the shim with JB weld to keep everything in place. The JB weld just came right off, presumably due to the finish on the hanger. I’m nervous to sand the trucks because it will make the gap bigger.
At this point, using another set of trucks and motor mounts would be my preference.
What motor mount + truck combinations will be more solid mechanically and not require extra shims (either due to the design of the trucks/mount or more precise machining, etc. )? I’m running 6374 motors with Alec 11 97mms, but would like to eventually move to ATs without buying new trucks entirely. I do have the TB 218 trucks and if there’s another motor mount kit that is more solid, I’d be open to that too.
