Modifying prebuilt junk, in stages, to be less junk like.

My mind is blown.

I was so looking forward to rabbit pellets, but all you sent was confetti.

And oh yea, 2 brand spanking new Trampa 6364 160 kv motors, and some psychotiller sixshooters, and 2 og focboxes, and much much more.

My Mind is simply blown.

I’m really not worthy.

Thank you so much.

I am afraid to goto bed, and wake up to find it was all just a dream.

The Trampa 6364 motors TJ generously donated, will be the heart and main part of a separate future build thread.

A recap.
My two junk prebuilts, do not much resemble how they were delivered.

Their 7s batteries and ESCs, are retired.

Their decks have had their hollow handles filled in with plywood, and both are now fully encased within fiberglass, and My raw sugar clear deck grip with some woodburning below, to obscure original logos.

The midsize kicktail, has larger , somewhat better hub motors than it came with, and it has achieved 30mph, wind assisted.
.
The enclosure’s 10S2p battery of cheap DMEGc 15 amp 2600 mah cells, is performing well with what much be close to 1500 miles on it. It’s been getting 3 charge discharge cycles most days lately, and 8 to 12 miles per discharge cycle, and the last time I checked P group balance, all was well.

Yep, its got the Lingyi cockroach still. In reality, once I get it vesc’d, and the enclosure painted, this midsize board is a perfectly capable kayakable tow vehicle, and does not really need any more effort expended on it.

I consider the Lingyi junk, but the Puaida hub motors have been reliable and powerful enough, mostly. My fiberglass enclosure, I am actually pretty proud of. I’m not new to fiberglassing, mostly laminating surfboards and making wooden fins, and not all these skills translate to making an enclosure, but I think it came out pretty well.

The midsize deck is solid, and waterproof, and the enclosure’s seal could be pretty impressive with some butyl rope and or sealant which I have avoided so far.

In short, I don’t really want to call it ‘junk’ anymore, but I guess as long as it still has a Lingyi in it, I’ll have to accept that it is.

My enclosure, is now velcro cinch strapped to a long analog cruiser Baltic birch deck, that has 8x3’ turf tires on front truck, my 90mm hub motors on back, and is a million times more fun to cruise on than the midsize deck, and I can probably swap motors and enclosure back to midsize, in less than 5 minutes. I am itching to go kayaking again. Water quality is a concern still though.

The 12 mph Diagonal drive mini, is unfortunately down. Its remote got wet, developed a fast parasitic draw, and the battery within the remote failed.

I replaced the battery, but it still didnt want to work unless plugged in to charge.
Its 73mm hub motor’s urethane is pretty hammered, but the hub motors themselves are still without major issue after a lot of pushing them hard, carving high amplitude high frequency on new black asphalt in florida summer midday. They have some bearing noise, but I’ve never had any reason to take them apart, but am also resigned to retiring them.

Honestly, if I could get new sleeves for these hubs, and push them with 10s, and do at least 16mph, I’d be damn happy with the diagonal mini as a beer run board, or even as a kayak tow vehicle.

I really do not want to remove the Lingyi from midsize enclosure and try to get vesc powering the hubs, until I have a fully functioning back up board, as the ability to go cruise, is paramount to my mental health.

The Diagonal Mini has a flexible, 90% complete 10s1p P42a singlestack battery made for it.

I have the 80mm M1 inboard hub motors Arza sent me, and some Julet connectors, and extra sleeves for those hub motors. Getting these hub motors under the narrow diagonal mini is my stumbling block at the moment.

The 180mm Caliber truck i have onto which these motors fit, would have the motors sticking far out the sides well beyond the mini’s deck, and I expect foot bite and the board not to be able to fit into kayak hatch, and a loss of nimbleness.

@trancejunkie hooked me up with a torqueboards 6355 single motor and mounting plate, but I still run into the too wide a truck concern. If I could properly clamp a motor mount to the narrowTKP trucks I have, well that 6355 geared for 22mph max on 10S would likely greatly out torque the dual 375 watt M1 inboard hub motors, and perhaps be lighter too.

I really like the quietness of hub motors, but I realize their significant limitations, and assume I’ll get over the noise and lack of free roll, using belt drive.

But the Diagonal mini deck does not need huge torque or top speed.

I think about narrowing a 180mm caliber truck, rather than buying a 150$ 127mm precision caliber truck, which I assume the M1 motors would fit to, but cutting new threads onto the shortened hardened 8mm steel axle, could perhaps be too difficult, or if possible, perhaps become too weak and fail, leading to serious injury. I’ve no lathe, or developed the skills to use one.

I have 4 OG focboxes, and the FSesc 6.6, and TJ did hook me up with a tiny remote and receiver.

I am committed to using the fiberglass encased diagonal mini deck. Though something wider would likely be a wiser platform.

it would be cool to be able to choose dual hub motors or single belt drive on this board.

I guess I should finish the battery, and make the new enclosure with a heatsink big enough to mount 2 OG focboxes, and go from there.

For those who want to know how I setup my harness/esc/batt for AWD two motor setup.
Each motor has its own esc and four battery setup. Motor, esc, parrell harness with series y connector x2. Picture and diagram for your viewing pleasure.

I love his dog so much.

She is so awesome, in so many ways.

She is not feeling well at the moment.

I am not remotely ready to face her mortality.

better hit the vet :frowning:

She was so full of her usual energetic goofiness earlier today, but then she opted out of our pre dinner barkup the hood ride, so I went solo.

I rarely skate solo.

When I got back, she was not her usual self.

I’ve been fearing all those lumps and bumps of hers, and just been trying to make every day with her count, keep her happy, be with her always.

Hopefully she can sleep soon, and wakes up her normal sweet goofy tail wagging ball chasing awesome self.
I’m gonna lay on the floor next to her bed, and try not to cry.

Am at the emergency animal hospital.

That lump by her leaky nipple is 5 times bigger than yesterday, and sore to the touch.

in waiting room,
awaiting the bad news.

Vet said they got a lot of fluid and puss out of her nipple, but want to sedate her to get more out, and send it off to a lab for analysis.

I approved every test they want to perform, for an ungodly $um, and had to leave her there for a few hours while they sedate express and xray and ultrasound

I have not been this far away from her in 7 years.

My alzheimmered mother is an absolute wreck.

‘Wheres my little girl?’

over and over.

hang in there bud, they can give her fluids all that stuff and pain management so its definitly a good call

Feel so guilty going for a skate without her, while she’s being poked and prodded, kneaded, and scared, and in pain.

Tried to work on her new chariot basket, but I can’t concentrate.

This time yesterday we were at watering hole barking at passing cormorants

She is home, all doped up.

Bloodwork didn’t have any red flags.
Xrays showed nothing concerning.

They recommend a mammaryectomy of two nipples, after swelling and infection subsides, and to be spayed.

Pain pills and antibiotics. Keep it clean, keep where she lay down clean.
Keep her from licking it.
Warm compress, try and drain it if she allows.

I guess a definitive cancer free woukd only be possibke after mammaryectomy.
Vet said otherwise she seem to be in good health for being 11.

The best outcome! Glad you and mom got a win here. How soon can you take her for a skate?

Oh that is the best news i’ve heard all week

Hopefully we can go for a roll tomorrow.

I gotta see how that gabapentin pain pills affect her balance, and if negligible, offer the tilted chariot, either she’ll get in eagerly, or walk away and lay down.

Right now she is a bit loopy from whatever they sedated her with.

My dad is also in love with Fiona.

His knees and back hurt him, but he always spends a minute or 3 at night before bed, squatting and bent over her, scratching her ears speaking some gibberish while her wagging tail beats the wall.

It So nice to see her breathing slowly again, and have her appetite back.

My mom comes to the doorway, and waves and blows her kisses every two minutes.

I’d charged my 10s battery as slowly as I could, at about 18 watts from 35.12 upto 42.04v, but forgot, and left it there at 42.04v overnight.

Removed charger, and 4 hours later the battery still read 42.04v, and I decided to go bleed that off with a short solo jaunt.

Fiona was laying in the garage peacefully, half asleep on pain pills, and I went to just do a few laps around some islands, solo. I got around the first one, to see she had followed me half way.

I rode back into the garage and she followed me , and sat next to her chariot.

I pulled it out and she climbed inside and lay down.

So we barked up the hood to the watering hole.

She wanted to swim but is not allowed to.

After a steak dinner, we barked up the hood again.

That infected mammary gland is still huge, and hot though, and she just expertly extracted the chewable antibiotic from with in a jerkey treat, and spit it out.
