MBS Matrix II Axle Removable? Different Sizes?

So i just got a set of @MBS Matrix II’s, fully aware of the whole 12mm axle thing.
Upon closer inspection, there appears to be a grubscrew that presses into the axle from the hangar, and the axle appears to be a separate part to the hangar.

So my question is, are these axles removable? And if so, are there any 8mm or even 10mm replacement axles?

i really don’t wanna pay a squillion AUD on 12x22x5 bearings so if i can make it work that’d be awesome!

If I remember right this question was asked a while back and @MBS replied that they are not removable.
I could imagine that it’s non the less somehow doable with the right tools, but you probably better find somebody with a lathe and get the shaft down to 10mm.

Disclaimer: I do not endorse to decrease the shaft diameter :wink:

:man_shrugging: no idea. But if you get it done, let me know :joy: would love to run channels on urethane without running a shitty bearing.

Hollow axle btw. At 10mm it’d be thin af. @mynamesmatt 4mm thickness is deffo too low.

Ahh true. Sorry @mynamesmatt no dice without an adapter bro.

That’s only the case for the matrix2 pro and the oil slick trucks as far as I know.
The regular Matrix2 trucks should be solid 12mm

Oh ok. 10mm diameter would decrease the overall strength.

nah I’ve got the hollow ones… this gon be pricey… @glyphiks What adapter you on about?

I believe @mmaner got his thinned down for urethane recently.

Was it a lathe?

I actually pulled out axles on old style mbs trucks and turned them down to 9.525mm. It worked great. 8mm would be too thing imo. You Can check my build thread on the old forum.

I lathed down some Trampa Infinity trucks to 8mm. They are still going strong.
