MBoards NOVA Tires Discussion

He said he was making one a little while back.

Valve stem seems to be fine. I was able to pump the tires up after

Yeah that’s the issue I saw with spacers for Hubba hubs is that it only widened one side of the hub so it put lotta pressure on the valve stem. Also I saw you use TPU for the spacer, any issue with it so far? Wouldn’t PETG be more rigid?

Ah right. I’ll look to put a gap where the valve steam is then.

Petg would be more rigid, but I think most of the forces are applied to the screws and hubs. The spacer only has to connect the 2 sides of the hub.

That i do, had a set designed for devon. I can make em for whoever wants them in pretty much any width. Mine key into both sides of the hubs rather than relying on just the bolts. Not as sleek or pretty, but a lot stronger.

Can u make 5 mm increments from 10 to 20, so 10, 15 and 20?

Same with my design. I use the existing keys to make sure the spacer aligns.

How did you deal with the valve steam? I was thinking of just removing the section altogether around the valve, like a pac man.

Yep. I can do exact mm thickness as desired. These spacers have extra tabs for you to run a bolt through which really helps lock them in from twisting in the hubs.

Have you had that issue before?

I noticed it on the MBS pro ii xl spacers when i was testing them at a wider width. Its not a huge issue but i figured i may as well do what i can to prevent it.

My though was including a cover to prevent the inner tube from poking out of the previous valve hole.

It’s a bit hard to cover the existing hole since it’ll extend on the opposite side of where the key bits come out.

But I just cut the existing rings to make a space and yeah you definitely need a gap for the valve step if using 150 x 50 tubes.

You don’t need the gap if using the exway wide tubes that I tested.

Ill post the updated design once I’ve done some more testing at intro2speed

Any updates?

The spacers with the gaps seems to work well. The only issue is you can’t pump the tire up unless it’s flat, but it holds up fine

Noice. Any issue with the tube pressing against the opening?

Nah not issues, but haven’t done hundreds of kms on the setup

I’m wondering the same thing did you ever figure this out or the Hoyt tires the only ones that been on the hubs?

I didn’t unfortunately. I should look at the 7" Novas when I get a chance…

Ok thank you.
