Thanks bro- ill give that a whirl. Its doing my head in
Is that 5.03 bro?
Yes
Watched Shutters vid on YouTube. Downgraded firmware to 3.65. Vx2 remote fired up and worked perfectly first time
Thanks for the vid bro.
Idk Wtf is up with the latest firmware but I couldn’t get the Makerx dv6 and the vx2 remote to function after trying everything.
Anyway. Cheers lads. Build done and functioning
Hah well I never expected it to fix something like that but I’m glad it helped you!
For the record, 5.2 seems to be nice and stable so that’s my default nowadays
What’s the max ERPM y’all have done on the dv6 pro? Gonna be running 12s, 179kv, and 20 pole pairs. Just trying to make sure I don’t have any issues.
If this is a reacher 7490, it’s 20 poles/10 pairs. Should be less than 80kerpm. Totally ok.
Hey, so how setting up the DV6 pro? Just auto connect, setup motors and that’s it? It has custom firmware so there’s no need for the update in vesc?
Yep pretty much. I just set up two of them. If you’re doing 4wd with can, set the front and rear up separately, then connect CAN. Didn’t like doing 4wd motor detection.
But yeah, you don’t need to do anything. One of the ones I set up decided that the power button would not work to turn it off, no idea why.
Mine did the same thing you need to adjust the shutdown mode setting. For w.e reason the default setting was always_on for me
Oh really - what tab is that in?
App settings > general > then shutdown mode .
They have a small FAQ on their page about it.
Dang aight thanks. I will have to check this on my buddy’s. It worked fine on one, but not on the other.

Hei guys,
I just picked up a used DV6 and connected to it for the first time. I’m completely new to VESC Tool and these VESCs.
When it connected, the app said something like “old but mostly compatible firmware detected”. Should I update it? Is there some sort of more in-depth guide available how to set these things up?
What does this tell you, with regards to firmware and hardware version?
Also, on the left, at CAN-Devices, why do I see two? What’s the difference between local and “53”?
Bro- I’d use 5.3. I recently had tears upgrading to latest and trying to get shit to work.
Others may have a different opinion
What version of vesc tool did you download?
Don’t worry about updating the firmware, just stay on what it shipped with. I made a video on my DV6 setup a long time ago. I would probably make it better today, but it should get you most of the basics.
If I recall, I downgraded the firmware and also used an older version of vesc tool, so just be aware of that.
The one I got today after I created an account on their website. Assuming it’s the latest.
you mean 5.03, the one it’s currently on?
Right - yeah, don’t worry about the firmware message. As for the CAN devices, “technically” your ESC is just two ESC’s on a PCB together, and they’re connected internally using the CAN protocol.
Switching CAN devices allows you to configure each side individually.
In general, nowadays, you can do most of your setup using only the motor setup and input setup wizards.
