Maker-X Go-FOC DV4 (upgraded version) ----- Most Affordable Dual Drive ESC

Can I ask why you didn’t use the VESC-standard UART layout?

It makes every UART device for esk8 incompatible until someone makes a custom cable, seems like a small change to enhance user experience.

Previous development did not pay attention to this place. But I think DIY users have the ability to do this simple wiring operation

Sure, but it’s also something that could simply be fixed on the next rev.

For me personally, I don’t want to have to bother with custom cables given that all my other boards use the same standard.

Just trying to give some feedback, aside from that it looks like an interesting entry level choice.

Guess its only me that solder shit onto the pins cause I’m too lazy to find the right size JST in some box somewhere?

It’s actually not diy, his batteries are rebranded

@YUTW123 was kind enough to send me one of these for testing!

Here are my first impressions-

Pros-

Nicely packaged
Great form factor (it’s tiny!)
Nice build quantity/Attention to small details(fishpaper and thermal pads where needed etc)

Cons-

So far I only have one con but I think it’s a pretty big issue-

The pinout on the hall sensor and uart port Are different then every other vesc I’ve worked with. Additionally the vcc on the uart and hall sensor ports are 3.3v and not 5v like most vescs. (Most vescs actually have both 3.3 and 5v on uart)

Here’s some pics of the unboxing-

!

I will do some real world testing on the upcoming weeks and report back with my findings!

One thing before I order two of these: Do they work with CAN for 4wd?
edit: Ordered nonetheless, worst case scenario would be SplitPPM

Looks like you can solder on the CAN bus cables. As min the terminals visible on the pcb.

Youre right, now I found them too  still too early for me
@YUTW123 If you want a review for 4wd and rather rough conditions (as usual for my builds) give me a generous refund

Anybody put any decent amount of miles on these things yet?

I have, but at very conservative settings. Setup easy as hell (newest vesc tool) with no firmware changes. Been very reliable and smooth. Just popped it into my eLofty rig today with settings bumped up, so will report back on that. So far, worth the money.

Are you running 10s or 12s? Im really wanting to pick up a few of these.

10s and only 3p. But I never had these ticketed as giant killers, so I keep my expectations, my budget, and my settings in line.

What do you call “conservative settings” @BillGordon?

Someone needs to blast the tits off them for science.
