Long range trip board (tynee Explorer upgrade + 12s8p)

Hi,

I have a slightly improved Tynee Explorer, changed wheels to 200m and wheels pulley 66T, DKP at back, ripitide bushings, and ordered trampa straps, however 90% of the routes I do are forests and fields, generally speaking I visit places where cars do not drive on a daily basis, but on paths, forest roads, but not hardcore offroads.

the range I have now is ± 25km and I am interested in 50+ (I ride with two friends, one on EUC, the other ordered a floatwheel and I need a greater range so that we can do longer trips)

I want to add top mount 12s8p battery molicel pack, with manually switch (with connector) when the built-in battery runs out. However, I started to wonder if the additional weight on the board would not be a problem? I weigh 80kg myself, adding a backpack with water etc…

And here’s a question: is it necessary to replace trucks with better quality in such a situation? It is hard to find flat deck trucks (I live in Europe) ;/ Or am I really scheming and should I assemble a new board for it? I have the funds for it, but honestly I don’t want to spend money because this board suits my needs ;/ what are your opinions?

…why?

With stock TKP on front and back it did not want to carve, with DKP on front and back it was too wobbly on terrain, with the current setup I can “drift” with my back foot and have more fun :P. It comes from trial and error.
I’ve only ever snowboarded before (a lot when I was a teenager, to the level of a instructor, but it was long time ago :D), never skateboarded. That’s why I’m afraid to change to a different type of truck, whether they’ll be too stiff?

Probably the weight won’t be a big issue, it wil weigh more but not likely to affect your use case. The trucks should manage fine

The dkp in the rear is an odd duck - would have thought to try dkp front and run the rear less lively but have fun. If it works for you by all means do it. Probably won’t feel stable at speed but not every board needs to be a rocket

I don’t go fast, normal ride 20-25 km/h and “fast” 35 km/h  i like to cruise and look at views :stuck_out_tongue:

Are you planning to take this board skatepacking?

Few days trips - yes (2 max 3 nights but without tent and “hardcore” like this person  Skatepacking setup : r/ElectricSkateboarding),
only with school size backpack (few cloths, esk8 charger, phone charger, board tools, basic spares, and bottle of water :P)

I’m novice in term of backpack adventure,
I’m planning trips but with staying in a hotel/hostel or agro-tourism (there are many of them in Poland). At the moment my idea is to make 50km a day and going down somewhere to charge the board, eat dinner, sit by the fire, and sleep, we’ll see how it goes. I’m afraid of a camping trip because of charging the board, maybe I’ll gain courage with time

Camping not required. You’re already packing enough gear to make that thread a better place.
