That was the VESC 4.12; on 12S you needed to run BLDC and not FOC
The Focbox 1.6 & 1.7 were okay on 12S FOC

Yey. Much happened.
The little board lives.
The enclosure concept is good.
Little bit of padding for the battery.
I’m using double sided tape again to organize stuff.
It is all a reasonable fit…
Motor came up sensored. Which I appreciate for the moment.
Bottom clearance looks totally good.
I had wanted to drape the abs or rubber over the side of the rails.
But then it dawned on me that a rectangle covering just the rails would be 100 times easier…
I needed a cut for the heat sink.
This was easy because I’m using the really thin abs.
Then it was just about the butyl
I had put threaded inserts on the rails.
After attaching the cover I was not happy with the fit so I tried to mess with it with the grinder to make a bevel. And I had used a heat gun to try to get the abs to sit better.
That never works for me
Don’t use heat guns on abs dude
I had planned on spraying the bottom with truck bed liner.
But besides that we were done!!!

I love the combo of wood rails and a cover. Have you thought about kydex? It forms pretty easily

I did. But I thought I needed a bigger sheet than I actually needed so I was looking for something 36 in long and I could only find that in ABS.
To that point though I have not tried kydex and I don’t have a full appreciation for how they’re different.
I think I’m going to try to order some kydex for my next little project but for this one I plan on redoing this straight rectangle with a thicker ABS…

For real. When I tried it with a heatgun it came out so bad. When I got to redoing it I just bolted a flat sheet down and just let it deform into place. So much cleaner

Great to take apart enclosures with butyl
It’s just a rectangle for fucks sake
I decided to make a slit on the top to bend the angle.
Should be easy to deal with…
Cutting the heat sink hole. And shaving some material to get it to sit
Back to butyl…
I often wonder if Butyl alone could hold an enclosure up.
Silicone around the heat sink.
And a different approach for the screws.
First round I used inserts.
This time I got 1.5 inch pocket wood screws and put them all over…
Sure ain’t going nowhere…

Ok.
So onto put some lipstick on this pig
My original intent was just to truck bed liner spray it as it is.
Then I had a highdea and decided to slap some spackle on here… I know… it’s weird…
It was a weird idea. The stuff was easy enough to work with. But it has a very light consistency…
Then I took off the grip tape which came off more cleanly than most of my previous adventures.
I was a little bummed about doing away with the Bustin signature grip tape. But it is baked into the deck and it looks pretty cool.
Then I sprayed it a bunch of times through the day.
I love this stuff.
It really is great lipstick for esk8s.

So after spraying the bottom I was so close.
I put a coat of clear stain on the top and it was time for grip tape.
I wanted some padded grip because the Sportster is a smidge not wide enough and my feet hurt on the edge.
The padded grip really mitigates that.
YOC makes some for this deck. But with shipping It would have been 90 bucks… so I couldn’t…
1wheelparts has rectangular sheets and hexagons and I think it is great stuff. I almost got some of that.
But the padded grip from Linnpower for the Evo was only 34 bucks shipped so I ordered some of that.
.This worked out surprisingly well with little cutting…
I trimmed one side and the little horns.
But it worked out really well.
It reminds me of a big booty white girl with that trashy lingerie.

After all this it still lived.
And I was relieved since I obviously never want to open this enclosure.

It’s so good!!!
It is so simple and so basic. Basically the absolute bare minimum right.
But it moves so well.
The number one best thing about it is the free roll.
It just moves and keeps on going.
I attribute it to the wheels. So thanks again @fearlesstvn these would not have been on my radar at all and I’m totally loving them.
