Limit Prebuild board to 6 kmh

I see, so yeah I need a second remote which only goes 6kmh, so i give the dummy remote to the cops and they test as much as they want but it will only drive 6.

Thaanks for the Input guys!

Not available.

This is incorrect. Any recent Lingyi controllers have user set speed modes that do allow some adjustment in acceleration and top speed. Not the same amount of control as you’d get with any VESC but it does allow the user to adjust it. No idea about hobbywing though since I will never use their stuff

I think he meant that you can’t modify the existing speed modes. Like in this case, low speed mode would need to be adjusted lower to 6kmh

Unless there’s a way to modify existing speed profiles?

I just mentioned it since he was grouping hobbywing and lingyi together even though they both have significant differences. The main one being that recent Lingyi controllers have a separate brake and speed setting that you can change. Some had a cruise control mode as well but even when I had the option I never used it.

AFAIK, hobbywing doesn’t offer either of those features.
One thing hobbywing does have is a past history of controllers shutting off right after applying full brakes on the board out of nowhere.

Also it did sound like there wasn’t even an option for speed modes on the hobbywing based on the rest of the post, but I could be wrong there. I am not up to date on what they make

Hobbywings newer controllers have Bluetooth connected app support for speed and brake tuning, real basic level profiles/sliders but I dont think I have seen any OEM besides Exway and Meepo actually support it but haven’t really looked lately.

Its also worth pointing out the difference between selectable speed modes/throttle curves via the remote and actually being able to go in and change things like motor amps and regen settings ala vesc which is more what I was referring to initially.

Also false. Only exway does, and this is because hobbywing owns exway. You cant limit speed anyways. Just rudimentary performance sliders that do something I guess

Yeah wasn’t sure if they sold that particular model to any other OEMS, but yup most of the app tuning is stuff like brake strength and throttle curve for Exway.

Except if you’re using a Tynee explorer HW esc.

Hobbywing offers a lot more

Some versions do have cruise control.
New versions have smart turn on.
Hobbywing has standard speed modes 1-3 + turbo
Newer hobbywing escs offer a full customization of each mode i.e brake strength and acceleration from 1 - 100%

Tynee explorers esc offers switchable locked speed modes (i.e 20km/h max speed allowed for beards)
Backfires sledge hammer offers per cell voltage readout and some of the functions mentioned above

All LingYi does is speed 1 - 4 and brake 1 - 4. Parking brakes and cruise control. Not sure if anything else.

Which are probably not actually speed modes, but current modes, per typical.

Mislableing a current or power or torque adjustment as a speed control is extremely common, and you should be aware of this if you’re needing an actual speed control.

Nah Hobbywing definitely limits speed as well as current. Speed 1 on my Wowgo was limited to 12mph, while 2 was around 18. Only turbo increases current from 3 without increasing speed. I believe LingYi is the same, but I haven’t tried.

They are speed modes. But let me still correct myself.

1 - 3 are definite speed modes. Mode 4 and Turbo only decrease the time it takes to reach the same speed as speed mode 3 on either ESC.

*only ones who can reprogram a hobbywing is hobbywing

there’s zero bloody place on a maxfind to fit a vesc bro

That’s just spitting rainbow out your arse at this point, meepo will not switch away from lingyi for the life of them.

Also Exway’s proprietary ESCs are all upgraded versions of the openly sold HW ESCs.

Used to. Not anymore since Exway found investors last fall.

Fun fact, newer Exways CAN limit speed.

This is true.

Those aren’t Hobbywing mate. I assume you’re referring to Acedeck, Polestar and some other newer companies’ ESCs. But yes, you can customise a lot of stuff with these ESCs, including top speed across the modes; percentage of the total top speed, acceleration strength, and braking strength for each of the four modes. These also accept most motors as it comes with motor calibration

Then how do you explain the striking similarities in the button and remote shape, the function, partially the UI, internal PCB Design, Vibrations and so on?

Yes they “aren’t hobbywing branded” but they must be 100% from an off-branch Hobbywing facility/ subsidiary

There are too many similarities. If you got insider info that are not to be publicly disclosed, feel free to pm me.

Which is what Hobbywing offered for years.

There hasn’t been anything to prove the opposite. No name, nothing. It’s all just “we made our own”

IIRC some people in DE use Metr with Vesc because you can set a speed mode that resets after you power cycle the board. So if police stop you, you just turn the board off and on again, and it will reset to default settings, and then you can just have the default settings capped at 6km/h

Search the forum and you should be able to find a thread with people discussing how they do it

It’s a completely different company lol. It’s not hobbywing. The more you know. Dino is right.

Yeah that I know but I was under the impression that they weren’t shipping yet. I have tried the atlas pro w aux pack and the flex pro. They’re pretty competitive boards.

Huh interesting

But who.

Dunno the name but I can 100% confirm it’s a new company.

All of the boards that use it are OEMed by elofty. Acedeck, sheheEV, onsra, etc.
