Does anyone control their lights (on, off) from the discharge port of their their smart bms? I have a 20A charge and discharge BMS from LLT but no way to control the the lights. Bms wired as charge only
I don’t
Yes, I’ve been doing this for a long time
Has anyone made a simple diy battery pack specifically for their lights?
Something like 2x 21700 in an aliexpress case like:
I’d rather add capacity with a few more cells than use a buck converter. With enough silicone & tape, a simple holder like these might power one or two LED front lights quite well. Thoughts, experiences, warnings?
(lights like this:
I stopped using lights that don’t run off the board battery, unless they are handheld, because it absolutely sucks adding more things in your life that have to be charged, and that can die at inopportune moments. A phone and a skate is enough
Very true. One day i will integrate. But today is not that day.
I realized that I have never shared the TelTail Lighting (TTL) System proeject here.
In case anyone is looking for a plug and play lighting system with headlights, tailights, underglow, and horn, check out the thread below.
I have tested the ever-loving shit out of the TTL module, lots of water and recently dragging it around on the ground and smashing on curbs.
Now they have a dandy aluminum top and should hold up even better if mounted somewhere they could be hit.
How about today?
Chances are good
Is anybody using the Convoy S2 lights? I’m thinking of giving them a try. They run on 18650 batteries, which is convenient. I’m just not sure on the driver. These are the available options:
7135*3 output current 1050mA
7135*4 output current 1400mA
7135*6 output current 2100mA
7135*8 output current 2800mA
the bigger current ,the brighter and hotter flashlight
Can anybody tell me which one would be the best to get if I’m to use two on the front truck?
It looks as though the 7135*6 is pretty popular but 2.1A seems a bit excessive. The battery would last just a little over an hour.
Why you don’t use the batteries pack vom esk8?
The main battery pack?
The voltage is too high. It would require a buck converter. I might…

Oh nice I was looking for that but didn’t know how to search for it.
About to hit up Aliexpress and go… buck wild!
Yup, there’s a whole wiki for buck converters in the citadel:
Plenty on the list. Add more if you got links
@Esk8freaktal i prefer these if you’re willing to spend a little more - Pololu - D36V28Fx Step-Down Voltage Regulators. Much smaller and no risk of fakes.
As someone who’s done both extensively…
Use the board battery and a buck converter. Abso-fucking-lutely. Buck converters are like $5-ish.
