Wow you’re fast
Um, thanks.
I’m concerned over the auto-braking feature, doesn’t fit in with longboarding technique. There’s no way to lighten yourself on the board over big cracks or pavement dividers?
Also, any way you can try the remote in a more signal dense environment? Like commute there with another vehicle and then ride the board.
@sofu awesome review
One thing that either I missed or you didn’t talk, can it brake on SF hills? At least getting to a low enough speed?
I remember reading, maybe further up in this thread, that footbraking might be required on steeper downhills.
Yep
Wrt auto braking, Hopping over cracks seems to work. I think there’s something with the weight sensing algo that doesn’t like cracks going up hills but I dunno what it is exactly. Maybe the sudden deceleration under extreme powering?
Likely it works on the total power differential between a couple of seconds ago and current state, so when cruising and relieving weight it takes slighly longer to reach the same value than powering uphill and hitting a big crack (more power being expended means the total differential value is reached sooner).
Awesome write up @sofu! Was worth the wait. This will be on my long list of things I want. Thank you for the hard work!
this write up is all wrong. for some reason I still want a set. I needed this write up to save me money.
[ nice write up @sofu. thanks. ]
For real, me too.
These trucks can, at the same time as being sufficient for 90% of trips, be an ideal analog skate trainer (because brakes) and an ideal esk8 trainer (because somewhat limited power).
From the first video they did seem like they had enough torque to be fun! Every time I see them though I think, so ideal for a cheeky supermarket snack run.
Same here as well… But it’s so damed expensive…
One interesting question is : would they pass the airport.l safety check
Wh rating should be good.
I am astounded that they pulled this off at all. This is an amazing achievement, hopefully they are reliable in the long run.
I’m buying one with a dead battery at half the price anytime
One step closer to being able to DIY something like these jaykay’s
Edit:
First step would be building it as a “plug and play” drivetrain. 2wd hubs with two of these squeezed in the truck baseplate. Battery sold separately.
@sofu . Did you have any issue with the Usb-c port ?
One of my Trucks doesn’t charge .
Lights and connections are all fine .
To be able to charge both trucks I have to switch the axles .
I already contacted Jaykay for a baseplate replacement .
now that I read the review, I wanted to get one but im too poor and my tayto might get left behind in a corner together with my x1pr
I haven’t had any issues, but it sounds like you’ve owned it longer than I have…
