iWonder Discovery 120D Cloudwheel discussion

So I took the board on its mayden voyage today with the Discovery wheels.

Did 17 miles.

This morning I was at 220 lbs. Add 10 more pounds for gear.

I really freaking love the way these wheels feel.

Even out of the box.

I took the images below of the two front wheels using the zoom on my Samsung S20.

What do you guys think?

Goddamn. I can’t wait to switch out my note 10 for the 20… that zoom is nutty.

Thanks for posting these. I presume those “lines” are artifacts from manufacturing. It’s great to have detailed photos we can reference while the miles stack up

Well… that is my concern. I am not sure if they are artifacts or actual cracks…

are you able to tell from the core image you posted here? iWonder Discovery 120D Cloudwheel discussion

I cannot tell from the image, maybe the size was shrunk when uploading and your original copy have more detail?

Put a flashlight through the core and it should be obvious… artifacts would only show on the surface, cracks will reflect light from the inside for as deep as the crack goes

This has to be a record for most pictures in a reply.

You could make some scratches to compare how they look.

If he zooms in any more he’s gonna see the space between the atomic molecules…

Most look like scratches or shallow cuts…

Yeah even with that magnitude it’s hard to tell, I think @rafaelinmissouri you s the right guy to be the test mule for sure

Damn, that’s some detail.

Now all you have to do is find a spot somewhere that looks like Jesus and start charging people to come look at/worship your wheels.

@rafaelinmissouri

Would you mind if I made these detail dropdowns?

Nope. Not at all.

Done. Please make sure I didn’t mess it up, and let me know if you want any changes. Thanks for taking the time to painstakingly document your wheels for us.

Is there anything like a temporary dye which could help differentiate between a crack starting and just scratches etc? Thinking aloud

Also a strong backlight may help show a fissure as the light bends

Agreed.

I did another 16 miles today.

There is a sweet trail with a huge switch back I recently discovered that gets me to a neighborhood I never used to hit. Some of the roads are this half ass pave the city does.
The clouds are perfect for it…

I don’t think I see any new lines or changes from yesterday.

But here are more pics anyways from my “enhanced inspection station”
