I feel like I’ve set up VESC hundreds of times and even made a version of the tool and firmware, and I still fuck it up sometimes.

Expecting a noob to do this flawlessly is … a stretch.

And that’s before the hardware quality even comes to factor in.

Ray be out here fishing, but no, there’s not an overly high failure rate, the only semi dubious issues I’ve heard lately is Ernesto had a large number of duds but I take that with a grain of salt, there were temp and firmware issues with the first batches but those seem to also be mostly mitigated.
