Is it worth changing out the esc on an Ownboard AT?

I want better brakes and power curve, but the battery pack is a 10s4p with Sanyo 18650GA cells. Wondering if it’s worth it to change the ESC? I know the battery is the limiting factor…

thanks

Yes definitely. Grab two vesc 6 or a dual 6. You’ll need a remote

Totally worth it. :ok_hand:

Yes, it’s worth it. I wouldn’t waste money in VESC 6s tho. I would suggest a Unity, dual FocBox’s or, failing those, a Maytech dual VESC 4.12/4.2.

You will have much better control and configurability and be able to make much better use of the battery amps.

Remember you will need a remote too.

Space is limited in the enclosure and the flipsky 6.6 dual plus would fit. 2x vesc 6 wont fit and unity is no more.

Thinking about upgrading the motors as well, you think it’s wise to drive 6374s with a battery pack that can only output 40A total?

Not worth the money imo. You’re going from 6368 I believe (which is already plenty for the battery amps you’re pushing) 6374 would be even more overkill. As for the esc, I agree that Vesc 6 derivatives are overkill, if you’re on a budget look at the MakerX dual Vesc 4 derivative, or a Flipsky 4.20 dual mini. Also keep in mind you’ll likely need an antispark switch since the Hobbywing ESC’s have them integrated in the esc. So either get an antispark if you have room, or get one that’s integrated like the Flipsky 4.20 dual plus mini.

get a makerX dual esc.
$120 and is fully capable of handling your battery specs.

I’m running 60batt amps and 60 motors amps (each) on my build and it runs like a champ

what remote and anti spark are you using?

VX1 remote. $35 great rated remote with 3 speed modes.
as150 mechanical antispark

where did you get it for $35? PPM?

$40 here. But sometimes they have sales

Ask around, some forum members are selling them as well for ~$35-$40
