Insight into Gearing up for and Maintaining Hoyt Tabor

They Kept coming loose mid ride and I was tired of the Motor mounts not feeling secure. my only problem is not taking apart and applying loctite to every single screw in this truck setup before riding. I think thats how this happened, too many of these motor mount screws kept coming loose

Yeah those were not supposed to come loose. Something was done incorrectly on your board you should contact Hoyt and they should give you new trucks and new mounts.

I left the email with pictures and a description while asking about the warranty. We’re gonna see what happens. I have college semester shit coming to a deadline soon along with work giving me more hours since they hired a couple of jack offs, I don’t have the time-table to wait forever. Had to take the L and buy the replacement trucks to get back on the road Asap. Hopefully the warranty and Hoyt will give me a refund or some sort of void for the truck order once we start communicating. Other than this and My dismay over the bashguard design, I love this board so it sucks to have to go through this right now

I can send you a 3d printed part to replace the pulley cap. Will let you change belts without having to remove any screws at all.

Can you send a picture so I can see! Accepting any and all help with this setup, thanks

I have it on my dadbod but it’s the same for the Tabor.

If you think it’ll help and you like the results from it, then yes, please! I appreciate all the help. Having to use my Stinger for any rides of shame for work or to the corner store is gonna be super miserable. I just got new Omni Trucks and Evolve wheels for it but the Hoyt speed mode 2 has spoiled me too much. I miss it already. Also loved the Fister roboto flair, love Archer

Hoyt got back to me, walking me through the process of how I can salvage these trucks and I think theyre offering to send a spare motor mount and rotating cuff so I can try to fix this instead of cutting the 1st set of trucks as a loss. Still gonna be a loooooong 2 day wait

The screws used to Mount the Hoyt Tabor are in an awkward position and don’t take to conventional skate tools so does anyone/Hoyt users have any advice on what specific setup I would need to get to these screws. Need to be able to take off the trucks to install my new Megan Esk8 BMS tool monitor.

I recieved the new trucks and motor mounts today. Proceeded to red loctite the motor mounts and bashguard while applying blue to the motor belt tension screws

The Tabor uses standard #10-32 skate hardware, which uses an 1/8" hex driver (standard hex driver on a skate tool). The nuts are captive in the baseplate, so you dont need a tool to hold them while you turn the bolt.

I ended up being too eager to get at the screws and made progress with the screw, then I pushed too far and the bolt came forward and my dumbass tried using my sk8 tool to finish it. I bitched out and by the time I put it back in place to not risk more damage, I ended up stripping 1 of the truck screws. I won’t be installing shredlights or my new Megan esk8 tracker until i do some research on how to remove this stripped screw without damaging the deck itself

Skate tool is 1/8, bolts your talking about takes a 3mm.

A 1/8 bit is really good at ruining a 3mm head

Thats the tool set ive been using whenever I need to get to a screw. I never used the hex tools that Hoyt gave me unless its to get to the motor mount screws that have the washers

Oh you had the opposite issue. The truck hardware takes a 1/8th

Well that explains why things were so off and weird. Im gonna go to ace hardware either tomorrow or Sunday and try to get a proper size wrench for the bolts and a 1/8th bolt driver I guess

Riding along the street and the inside bearing of my truck that’s closest to the spacer was pushed too far in from belt tension and the wheel was pushed inward as a result. The hanger from the trucks with the groove tracks for the bearings and wheel nuts to go on is scraped and bent beyond repair. I spent almost an hour on the side of the road with this damaged hanger, no hope of screwing the crew back in place. I tested this with old screws from other trucks and the front trucks of the board itself but this back hanger for the new trucks I paid out of pocket for is damaged and I can’t use it at all. That hanger that the wheels and bearings go on has bent grooves/tracking so it’s unusable since I can’t put the screw on to keep everything in place.

I tightened the belt too much and the wheel got pushed in from that and the bolt on the outside. I’m waiting on a motor from Tynee to fix my Spare cause 1 of the motors went out on that during the same week this happens! I have both of them put up and I’m watching time drag as I wait to hear back from support. The official claim company won’t let me make a claim so I have to do it through Hoyt
