working on a secondary “universal plate” option as well. Not as slick in someways, but a bit cleaner in other aspects
If you can’t fit all the holes, what about including just a piece of paper with the hole pattern printed on it … one paper for each ESC … so folks can lay that on the heatsink and punch then drill the holes they need?
I have absolutely nothing against this, totally good option. But same deal as just pecking with machine, fins would have to be laid out in a very specific way
So it is between one very messy plate, one plate with pecked holes, or two plates; heatsink and mounting plate with counterbored holes
will add pic of cad in a few minutes
Maybe if certain ESCs are less common (like VESC6 or ESCape) or contribute to a lot of hole collisions, just those ESCs could go the paper route
Totally, that is also fine. My preference would be to support as much as possible, but if we can get unity, focbox, and TB6 that would be fine I guess.
The universal mounting plate is kinda cool, I like it. Got some buddies helping with it lol
Two plates, Universal mounting plate and cover plate
yeah, I really like this. covers the holes and looks pretty slick
Any way to get one plate design, in my opinion, is better than having 2 different versions.
Even if they come with paper templates.
If you have an awl or a drywall screw, you can make some rather precise holes from a template if you try hard enough. And if it’s a good template. Preferably on transparent paper. Or metal.
It’s one version. In two pieces.
Yeah, I am torn. Not sure which is better. In some ways the two plate system will be a bit easier and cleaner, but at the same time two plates is a bit annoying
Tiny nicks would be even better than a template
If two holes are too close together, just barely nick each one so end user can finish drilling whichever one they choose
right would just get the spot drill thing out and peck each hole
I also like the two plate design because the user will have to do very little. While drilling is rly not that hard, it could be a pain for some users
yes that will be done
