InfinitySink Development Thread - 2020 Community Influenced Universal Heatsink

I’ve never been more excited for a piece of metal, seriously awesome job man

@surfnacho, I am loving this community-involved design process! I want one. Can you confirm that the same design will work with dual TB6 and Stormcore 60D?

@surfnacho I added my numbers to the sheet but I’ll post them here too
2x heatsinks for Unity
1x heatsink for TB6 pair
3x total

Also I think worse case scenario, people can use thermal conductive glue to attach their ESC of choice :tipping_hand_man:

That is it to hold the two plates together. The mountain plate and the heatsink plate

I will do my best

I will add you :call_me_hand:t4:

Edit; I saw u were able to do it. Sick

The mounting holes for the escs are a bit different, most are m3, but it looks like vesc6 is m5

If someone can get me the storm core hole pattern I will add it to the design, not very clear how the holes on the storm core are.

Thanks for clearing it up.

Right I think that is a good solution, however the holes are preferred

The sink holes keep the two plates together, I still have to add holes for mounting to enclosure… unless someone has an idea to make it a bit slicker

Can confirm unity is M3

Epic. Thank you sir :+1:t4:

It looks like most are m3

Thanks Jujo, I am equally as excited to get these out

same for stormcore 100d (should same for 60d also)

Good to know. Only vesc6 that’s the outlier. I’m glad most of them are the same

Okay, gunna change this a bit. 4 corners holes are going to be 4 m4 mounting holes, then the holes holding the plates together will be moved and potentially driven from the bottom to keep it clean

So I suspect that’s what the four holes are for. mounting the case to more heatsink. particularly because they are aligned underneath the block that interfaces the fets.

So… is the unity like this? or do you take it out of the case when using it with other heatsinks? stormcore? TB6?

looks like 3d servisas unity is a flat interface “does not require removal from case”

if you’re taking them out of the cases do they all require standoffs?

I’ve been assuming the “univerasal” nature meant a flat interface. but now I’m confused about which configurations conform to that.

I am pretty sure all of the patterns work with the esc in the case, flat interface as you called it. Like I said, I will 3d print one, and probs machine a single unit and test with all of these, so if anything needs to be changed…it will be.

Thanks man, I really like what we have come up with here. Huge shoutout to my FRC mentor for helping with this design. starting to rly come together, I am going to try to get all testing done this week, so I think I can get these done fairly quick
