baja is shit and ecomobl is pretty damn close to shit. If you want a board with āsuspensionā, propel is your best option, but a well built mtb can do just as much and you wont have to worry about the typically poor durability and extra weight added by the mechanical parts
My partner is Pretty good at taking things apart and putting them back together but like I said we have both been so busy with work thatās y we arnt going do our own build right now. We havenāt tried gears yet but he knows how to put them together and take them apart so if something ended up happening Iām pretty sure we could fix it up. I do have a question he had mentioned that on some of these we were looking at they had plastic gears, whatās up with that? Wouldnāt metal be better? After the broken collar bone we are wary about the belts.
@BillGordon is there even a point in having more suspension if the board canāt flex?
After doing some more research and thanks to everyone for the advice I get y the boards have to have the battery on the top (it is to bad there isnāt a way to separate the batteries underneath the board and still get that flex, without having to worry about screwing them up) I donāt carve currently so Iām not to worried about screwing them up if they are under but I am a truck driver and the areas Iām in are always industrial parks with dirt, gravel, asphalt, and concrete roads. You wouldnāt believe the holes these 18-wheels end up putting in the roads. I would like to also be able to take the board down trails but mainly I will be on the side of the highway (where you literally have to ride in the ditch in some places) and coming out of drop yards that are all dirt and gravel, that get muddy when it rains, to transitioning over to city roads when I go into the city to pick stuff up. I like just checked out trampa and they really have some nice boards, heck I would be open for one like that with the battery on top if itās clean like theirs haha.
The Apex Predator is similar to a Trampa board but with better everything. Safer battery, more comfortable bindings, more reliable metal gear drives, more durable trucks, etc. etc. + They ship to the US I believe.
If you want to do true off-road riding and not worry about parts breaking then a real mountainboard with bindings is a far better option than those suspension boards. Youāre just going to slip off of them on any hills, jumps, wet weather
Plenty of ups and downs on POM vs Metal gears. Cost, weight and sound in some cases. Id say reliability is similar but thats heated opinion among many folks.
Just get an apex or a trampa with bn gear drive and nine inch mud pluggers. That is gonna be the be your best off road option. 4wd can take on more but is not as fun to ride and eats up more battery. Stay away from baja and ecomobel. They are trash. If you want a real off road machine your looking around 3k. Maybe go 14 or 16s with a stormcore 100d for more power. Massive monster box can fit a 16s6p or 12s8p with the big boi deck. Apex fits a 12s6p. Id go with the bigger battery. Dont get trampa straps they feel like shit on your feet. Also dont get trampa hubs for 9 inch they are wobbly. Get like newbee pentagrams.
