I did another thing

In another post I was talking about keeping a sk8 in my car for last mile stuff, but I don’t particularly want to carry it around with me after I get there, so I added a lock point to the board.

I figure throw a cable lock on there then when I get to my destination lock it to a bike rack.

I realize this won’t do much against determined thieves but where I’m likely to park this thing cable cutters would be pretty noticeable

In case you’re curious they aren’t 3D printed, they are CNC’d out of Delrin. Not something a casual yank is going to undo.

Why not just run a lock through the trucks? Or through a wheel? Or through a motor mount?

At the end of the day anyone with a hex wrench set has the keys to your parts anyway.

Good idea, I’m gonna figure out how to add something like this to my board’s carry handle.

Cool idea. But couldn’t a thief just unscrew the 2 bolts holding the cable!?

Only if the thief was an esk8er. Otherwise I doubt someone randomly carrying a 3mm hex key and the right wrench is going to happen by. The nuts are nylock, so a quick single twist isn’t going to do it.

There are no other lockable things on this board. Wheels are solid, trucks are solid, etc.

Probably if there had been a place already available to lock it I would have thought of that

A bike multitool is pretty common

Yeah, I hear ya.
Plus, it’s really more of a deterrent huh!?..
If something isn’t easy to steal, most wont bother…

This will prob stop opportunistic thiefs, but a real one always carry at least a bolt cutter or something similar.
