How does it feel compared to pneumatics?
Iâve been promised Iâll get it before the year ends. Iâm not going to the karting track, sadlyâŚ
The guy must be a newbie, he posted a riding video with no helmet and looking unsure of himselfâŚ
Donât know if youâre aware but Hunter Boards is busy developing custom pneumatics.
Horses for coursesâŚ
Let me preface these ramblings by saying Iâm actually a sucker for good, high rebound 'thane. This is probably due to me coming from an analog sk8 background with over twenty years of that spent longboarding.
The problem with eboard wheels as far as I can tell is that they usually require a large stiff core resulting in a reduced depth of 'thane and therefore a rougher ride, or the need for a much larger wheel to compensate for the big core. This is especially the case with hub motors.
Pneumatics do offer a plusher ride and better wet-weather performance than slick âthane but this is at the expense of rolling resistance and thus range. They also tend to be heavier and prone to punctures and balancing issues.
Hunter Boardsâ solution is to combine a relatively large hub with quality 'thane and a suspension system to create a lightweight solution that bridges the gap between standard longboard wheels and small pneumatics.
Life is all about compromise⌠this may not be the fastest, have the longest range, be a rock crawling monster, or designed to achieve only one specific goal, but as a well-polished, lightweight, easily transportable urban commuter thatâs a joy to ride and is truly unique in its design it fulfills its objectives⌠now how do I convince the Mrs. I need one?
thatâs just a straight up open-boxing. shaky camera bonus.
The need is understandable
Hopefully they make it big and the boards get a little cheaper some day. Having a light board has always been a biggie for me.
I wouldnât count on that
With a full cnc aluminium deck, it would be a miracle if they donât raise the price over the years actually
Unfortunately Iâd have to agree with DavidF. I think the price point is very good for what you get on a non-Chinese made board.
Hi David! Iâm from the team at Hunter. Our plan is to keep the price below $2K in the future. Itâs true that aluminum is getting more expensive, but other components are getting cheaper as we scale. Itâs a balance. We might release a more expensive board in the future, but our flagship product price will stay below $2K as long as possible. Please let me know if you have any questions
Finally âŚ
I met Hunter crew, tried the board and walked through the company.
To resume a long day on short post.
Fantastic crew, young guys with hunger for greatness, passionate by their project, well diversified in competences, humble yet ambitious and openminded.
I was really skeptical on how the board would feel under my feet, sure it looks great âŚ. but do you want a good-looking toy or do you want a robust, well built, comfortable mean of transportation, this were my thoughts before today.
I have assembled couple of DIY esk8 and always preferred wood versus glass/carbon fiber decks so an aluminum deck was so offside I though either their on to something or itâs a epic fail. I though this would compromise flexibility and comfort. How wrong I was, I felt great on top of it the suspension does a great job absorbing the road and bumps and the aluminum deck really stands out as a premium object. Great finishing, battery assemblage is flawless with CNC machining making it a high precision component. I dare to say thereâs no other deck in the world with this level of high precision.
Moving forward to suspension, this for me from what I saw and read before this test was the most innovative design I wanted to see, here I was pretty confident I was going to like it and they didnât let me down, felt great carving with a small radius (much smaller than my eMSK8) the bushings were a little to lose for me to go fast but it was really awesome to maneuver through obstacles. The suspension is an assemblage of several components completely done in-house and very proprietary design.
All electric components are excellent quality from hub motors, to vesc, to battery and remote, really liked the remote, very unique, simple and discreet, they went a long way not to copy anyone.
Wheels, they even do their own wheels which behave really above my expectations because I normally ride emsk8 with 200mm air tube wheels, but these ones were not shy to harsh terrain and shitty roads.
The packaging of all this just outrageous it feels like a military product.
So Hunter proved me wrong, they are definitely on to something great, and the board is not only robust, well built, comfortable, it is also lightweight, powerful and with delicious details on it.
So final words are loved the product and the company.
Now I have to ditch a old esk8 and put myself in the waiting line to receive my Hunter.
Looking forward to see what Hunter brings us in the future.
Can you show me the boards you have built in the past and the things that made you feel
âthey went a long way not to copy anyone.â
Please forgive my suspicion, but you joined this forum 2 hours ago and bust in waxing lyrical about this board. Something about this makes me feel youâre not as disconnected from this company as you make out?
Never buy anything from a man with a concave face Ben, itâs basic math.
Whatâs a eMSK8?
Can you provide any study to support your point?
You can just about see part of @pfazao79 e-MTB in the screenshot but, yeah⌠had I not tried the Hunterboard before I would also find it sus
Iâd guess electric mountainskate?
