make sure to check for idle drain before leaving the battery!
You mean unplugging the battery from the system to prevent idle drain?
With the doublestack hummie enclosure that ben made back then, it can fit 16s6p + bms and d100s with some tiny routing. An 18s6p can fit if you move the ESC to the back truck like some of the newer production boards have been doing recently for street boards.
Interesting choice for enclosure, be sure to hit no bumps.
Always nice to see other german DIY builders ![]()

I think (Hope) the knobs act a little bit as cushion
when i hear anything hummie i think of the dinosaurs
200km done and it holds Up really good. Obviously im cautious around bumps, but its still nice and right around the Battery. Only the holes corners in the ESC Side are worn Out, even tho i Had Metal rivets between mat and screw. Probably worn Out due to excessive opening and closing
Update:
After ~200km of Road vibrations and Not the best bikepaths and roads, obv we’re in Germany, the rubbermat slowly started loosening and once the Battery had a little space to move there was easily 1cm of Rubber mat pulled inwards. And the aluprofile didnt have much more space to apply pressure. Hope that makes sense.
To Battle that Problem i bend a coupled Aluminium Strips, für Out holes for them and used them to Support the weight of the Battery.
Looks redneck af but its only temporary Till i can afford a proper Battery enclosure.
Kinda Like the Look tho
As someone who lost an eskate in flames because a metal object pierced through my several mm thick quality stock, thick plastic enclosure, I advise you to get rid of that rubber as soon as possible so you don’t end up like me.
It’s not a joke, you can’t react fast enough to avoid some sharp debris, and it’s instant fireworks.
Damn that’s fucked… what did you hit?
My Plan ist to weld an metal enclosure, but Money IS the Problem rn.![]()
It was a bent some sort of steel pipe buried in sand.
I also had a bamboo chopstick or a BBQ skewer or something jam itself right through an ABS enclosure. Fortunately, there was nothing but air on the immediate other side of where it poked through. Had no idea it was happening until it was done. I guess running over it with the front wheels made it bounce up and then stab through.
Holy….
Yeah welded Metal enclosure is coming ASAP
Never seen a welded box. Be nice if had obtuse angles on the side and could flex a lot.
Thinking about using a flat Sheet and cutting Out a foldable pattern and rewelding the seems.

The U is the Battery. Will be as flexible as my hummie Deck ![]()
Do u tig weld? I got one like a month ago but haven’t gotten around to it (my place is too messy to do anything these days).
Steel r aluminum? I’m warming up to finally push the on button
Just cut and bend it somehow and reweld?
I only tried MiG welding, so i probably Stick to that. Thought about doing 0,8 or 1mm steel. Wanted to Go to a Shop and See the differences in thickness and stability of both Steel and Aluminium.
Yeah Cut then Bend then weld the seems, that’s the Idea. Will BE a Lot of planning followed by Trial and Error..
Weight wont be an Issue, haven’t gotten your Hubs over a Power Draw of 1600W total ![]()
Quick google suggests that you need at least 3mm thick aluminium for mig welding unless you have a ‘pulse’ mig welder and then you could apparently go down to 1mm.
Also you need good shielding gas and aluminium specific welding wire. I heard it’s significantly less forgiving to work with but I haven’t tried myself.
