Upside down. Plugs facing into the enclosure.
Butyl tape below as a bed. Screw down to compress that. Butyl tape layer to fully enclose cable entries into the esc. Butyl tape. Butyl tape. Butyl tape

Get all your connections set up, then pot the fucker in silicone, inside and out.

Dump a bag of glue sticks on it and rip on it with a heat gun.

I was thinking of opening it and doing the fancy name conformal coating as well as sealing all cracks n plugs with silicone. Calling @b264 captain conformal. Maybe paint all plugs with thin layer of Vaseline and then fill them with some warmed silicone to make a remove plug/cover.

Then I can see the lights and be minimalist and lazier with not having to make a box and it looks cool.

Am I right that this esc doesnt have the hardware to run “roll to start”? Adding a button and anti spark results in a mess of wires.

why not use an enclosure up top?

It seems maybe easier to just waterproof it.

i think, it’s easier and more serviceable to use a box to encase the esc, you can waterproof the box, but if you say break a motor or need to troubleshoot, or do anything with the esc, having it not covered in glue/whatever you use will leave a lot less headaches

you also don’t have to worry about damaging the esc, because it’s protected

maybe just dunking the esc is easier now, but it’ll leave a lot less flexibility in the long run

Put a big piece of heat shrink over it after the connections are in place and fill the ends of the shrink with some kind of glue. Easy to cut open and re-cover if you need to access the esc again.

Pot it like JayPo potted the Tenka

I stopped using conformal coating once I found butyl rope. It’s magic.

Butyl tape is a good friend.
