Then you probably have done something wrong. I had no problem using the VESC firmware with a quadrature encoder with index pulse, so the firmware is not missing it. It worked perfectly fine.
I think it doesn’t help to write that ASS works that super mega crazy exciting great only with Trampa hardware when there is no prove shown to us users. The only ASS testing videos on hardware with phase filters I could find are from @tipsy. And for me these videos doesn’t show groundbreaking better startup performance and you still see cogging.
