Brabham BT44 - Martini Racing
The Brabham BT44 was designed by Gordon Murray, the legendary designer of the revolutionary BT46 ‘Fan Car’ and the McLaren F1. The BT44 followed Murray’s ethic of simplicity and aerodynamic cleanliness. It represented his first work with side skirts and air-dams on the car, a precursor to ‘ground effect’ aerodynamics.
Martini’s sponsorship of Brabham marked their full-time return to F1 sponsorship in 1975 after a brief and failed foray a few years earlier. The initial colour scheme incorporated the iconic Martini colours on a white background with the colours appearing on a red rosso corsa background in the years following.
