hobbywing 9028 randomly speeding up/ jerking forward

Not sure if this is common, or if I’ve just been spoiled with smooth escs & remotes so far. It will randomly speed up and go back down while I’m holding the throttle still (plus it shouldn’t jump so much even if my finger isn’t 100% still). Feels like the board is trying to throw me off every few minutes. You can hear the sound from the motors acting a little weird when it happens.

I road a hurricane recently that kinda did this, but less extreme. It’s making me think that most escs still need refinement for our uses (even vesc ain’t perfect). Either way, riding it like this feels super sketchy. Hoping it can be smoothed out.

That looks scary, what board is it from?

Thats fucked. Save yourself the possible serious injuries and stay off it.
It could be a mix of things, my first thought is a remote connection issue or possible damage to remote receiver.

Hopefully it’s sorted and you’re riding safe again.

I would not use that. Maybe a broken potentiometer in the remote or a broken PWM wire in the board could both cause this, amount other things

Ya, I’m off it for now while I wait on the fix. We did try with a different remote, but looks like something that needs to be fixed in the software according to HW (they have found thr issue it’s just waiting on an update now).

Could also be a bad receiver which on hobbywing equals another ESC

They use hall sensors

The receiver is integrated in the ESC.

HW has pushed an FW update that I am testing. The issue seems completely gone, and the overall ride is waaaayyyyy smoother. loving the board now. Going to dig into what exactly was changed in the FW to make sure it was actually fixed, and not just a workaround.
