Help with a ESC Autopsy Please

Well after hanging round the forum for some time learning, reading and taking it all in, this is not what i imaganed my 1st post would be like! I planed my DIY, bought the parts and in the last week put the board together 2x flipsky 190kv 6354, 40 x molicel P45 21700’s (10s4p), spintend ESC switch and control, onsome 6" pumatics and some DKP.
So I ran up the VESC tool and auto configured with no problems, over the next couple of days, I rode the board maybe half a mile and tweeked the settings as the detected ones were a bit full on, everything was fine.last night using the FreeSK8 app i brought the settings down a bit more, with a view to bringing them back up bit as i got comfitable with the ride, I set.

motor curr max 40A
motor curr break -30A
battery curr max - 40A
battery curr max regen - 15A

So i have just done a test ride, I went 20m no issues and the breaking and acceleration felt a lot less full on, I stopped then went to go again and noticed that the remote had disconnected and the boards power switch led was off, I pushed the power button and pop,fizz, smoke and flames :scream: :sob:
luckly the N.E.S.E protected the batteries and the fire was able to vent out of some holes in the case. Im gutted that this happend but i’m more concerned as to why it happened, fault unit? bad settings? I wasnt even using it when it happened , just switched it on! I have checked for any shorts and there is no sign of any, it looks like the problem started in the ESC and stayed there.

could the ESC still be interagated to get any data off it??
I appricate its dificult but can anyone provide any thoughts as to why this might have happened? thanks for any info/insight anyone can provide

@jack.luis @hoytkid

There was a service bulletin that was mentioned on some for he batches where the top plate could make a short I think with the pcb. It was for a certain batch of them. They sent out emails and posted here under their vendor thread

@bboybowzer thanks for that i’ll check it out

Yes, and sent everyone out some padding to keep a short from happening.
