Help tall guy pick a prebuilt board. August 2023

Hey guys.

I have an old skateboard buddy looking to get a board.

He is in the Bay area now.

6ft 3in , 225lbs, size 13 shoes.

He started the question asking about the Exway Wave.

I suggested the Acedeck Stella Mini because it seems like a good size deck.

Then he asks about the boards with the tire type wheels…

Which for a 6 mile commute each way in San Fran, would be a better choice.

I expect there will be a good bit of sticker shock for any of these, so I am trying to start on the lower, but functional end.

So first to mind is the Meepo Hurricane Bamboo with the 175 tires, belt, and TKP.

1400, maybe a little less.

Then I think of the ownboard Zeus bamboo

Hota tires, TKP, also a flexy deck.

Not sure if shipping takes a long time.

And maybe that is it.
The Endurance jumps up to 2600…

The Propulsion Demon 3.0 looks promising.

But it’s not real yet…

Also. Not tires…

why not a defiant ?
LHB needs funds for a new pool

For around $1400 he could get something used as well. Also, welcome to your buddy! He should join Southbay rides some time. Might need a decent hill climber with some r

How does do this?

Also. You see any ok diy boards come up for sale there?

Umm I’ll ping you next time I post up a ride.

Locally I see a $1200 Meepo hurricane and a $1499 exway atlas pro 4wd both OBO

No diy local

Seems you belong around here then!!!

And yes. Upon further discussion the 1400 has caused some shock.

IMO 6 mile commute in san francisco would be a nightmare on an esk8. The roads are truly awful.

To answer the question though, If I was on a budget and buying a prebuilt, I’d go with meepo hurricane bamboo with the racing tires.

I was wondering if the 100 extra bucks would be worth it.

And may add to the wait.

It says the ninja version is in the US, and may also come with their MAD wheels.

He said the hills are not too gnarly…

But yeah. Bad roads are tricky…

Still be cooler than the taking the bus right…

It depends on what his route is like. Some roads have protected bike lanes, many do not, and I’d be terrified for my life riding an esk8 in traffic in SF, (without a pack of people around you).

Yeah, I have the Acedeck Aries X1 which is treating me well in hilly terrain. Came fast, though the battery was DOA and I had to wait for a new one.

Through my time working for acedeck, and my time on the internet, they’re shipping so many bad batteries. 20% of the 20ish acedeck owners I know had doa/premature battery failure. Someone here in Portland got a x1 4wd and is getting single digit range out of a 14s4p p42a, so I’m assuming it’s way out of balance.

Is there a store you can walk into and see esk8 s?

Alien Rides maybe? @poastoast works there

all we got is the onsra carve 3(?)

Found one in good condition for 900 bucks, has the cyclone tires as well.
