Hi guy I ride a 2022 Lacroix jaws 2.0 with radium 173 motors and 20 tooth motor pulley. I have been forced back to 200mm wheels from 175s due to finances can someone tell me how to strengthen my brakes on the Vesc app because I really don’t know a thing about it. The brakes are way too weak the board acceleration is ok, no where near what it was with 175s but it’s not bad at all so I can deal with it for a few months. If someone could please just explain it to me really simply how to do it on the app it would be a lifesaver because I use my board at least 30kms a day.
The help buttons will give you an idea of what the settings do. Throttle expo brake being more positive would result in you having more responsive brakes.
There is also a parameter for how many regen amps it will allow into the battery, but that won’t be influenced by tire size whereas the motor current regen is affected by wheel size.
I would also advise to create a backup of your current setup before making any changes. If shit goes awry, which can easily happen in VESC Tool, you can load up your backup and start fresh.
Thank you for this I just have one question to make my brake stronger do I make my minus number larger or smaller and should I I go in -10 each time or greater?
VESC Tool is not a consumer grade interface, it’s mostly for engineers, you have enough rope by far to hang yourself with. Be extremely careful editing any of those settings and never do a firmware update solely because a new version is available, you will cause a lot of problems. If you need a new version you will know why you need it. If you don’t know why, you don’t need it.
I set my brakes to -110 and they’re perfect now so thank you so so much! Now I have one more question I feel like my acceleration is down 30 to 40 percent closer to 40 what would I change on the app to bring it back to the same as it was when I had 175mm tires if that’s possible, thank you again for giving your time to me
I would not recommend a throttle curve personally, but some folks like them. It’s not going to make anything more or less powerful, it only changes the linearity of the control.
I think its primary benefit is in decreasing throttle response but I can see a use case where you don’t want to increase max amps due do hardware limitations but you want to feel more a punch on the low end.
