Yes! Hopefully

If they switch up some off the event to Saturday so you can continue to race would be cool… We support you either way!

Since I have nothing to add racing wise I’ll do a Deeifs plan for Q1/Q2 2021…
So COOLNESS Wise :
As some may know I bought @surfnacho’s CNC router ~ two months ago. I’ll finally have it up and running in the next week or two.

Whatcha gonna make dash?
Well I’m going to start by making X Plates. I’m working on some designs so if you’ve got suggestions drop them below! I also already have the design fully finished on a fancy lookin belt drive/mount setup. I’m still debating on adding crossbars or not, since I can’t find tubes with the inside threaded in the sizes I need.

Finally, I’m starting work on a Matrix 2 Gear drive. Will it be as cheap as everyone else’s? Not sure honestly, the gears I want to use are super high quality, but not cheap in the least bit. Steel on steel ofc @b264.

Everything made above will be made on a 3axis cnc in house, keeping costs low and profit minimal :joy:

Building Wise

So the thing I’m happiest about is that I’m going to be working on a true raceboard this year, will it be crazy? Yes. Will it be stupid? Of course, I mean I’m the one building it :joy: Is it something innovative? NO! (Sorry @b264)

Even though it’ll be something a little bit different, it is not innovative and none of the ideas on it will be 100% straight dumb DEEIF ideas, except for one. I don’t want to, and will not be taking credit for any of the things on that board, since it’s you guys who have made it possible.

I really can’t wait to finish the raceboard though, and I’ve got one cool idea to incorporate everyone whose helped me.

Numero dos
Emtb. During the summer we sometimes go to mammoth or Idaho, which means trees and trails. Plus I mean I can’t leave all the testing of the Deeif BDrive and Deeif GDrive up to third party people. I need to stand behind my own product :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

The end

Well that’s all, feel free to ask questions or suggestions :man_shrugging:

OuO and special shoutout to @MoeStooge for fixing my v2 3links with in a week of them arriving at his place. I did a number on those… Some of the best CS I’ve ever experienced!

How did the v2 NKP break? What piece failed and in which manner?

How rigid is the router base for cutting steel? :joy:

I wouldn’t even attempt to cut steel on it

That’s the jk. xD.
Edit: He could try. With some S235 maybe. But very slow.

Inhouse means for me you. xD

:joy: That is the only part I’m sourcing from other people, no steel cuttin for me. I should probably add that… well too late :man_shrugging:

@b264

On the v2’s they were thing where the radius rods met the axle. I snapped it clean off on one side. Moe had never seen that happen before :man_shrugging: Should be a non issue with how beefy the v3’s are though

It’s fine.

Just saying, I’m in a different ball park with that thing. Pick out the little details.

So since I won’t be racing for the next month or couple of months I still want to keep this thread alive…

So my thoughts are to do a mondays update… mostly Esk8 stuff and maybe a little tiny bit of sports stuff if I’m proud of it :man_shrugging:

I’ve got some cool stuff planned for 2021 esk8, so I should be able to keep it at least somewhat interesting, worst comes to worst it turns into a rant halfway through my paragraph

Thoughts?

Crap… Well I missed this weeks but I have an excuse… MLK

No but seriously, I had lacrosse n a long drive back in traffic.

If anyone was wondering we went 5-1, I could make up a lot of excuses but in the end in came down to us just not playing well in our last game :man_shrugging: Should’ve won, we didn’t, such is life and life moves onto the next opportunity. I was invited to the National team for my club though, so something good came out of it all.

Anywayyyyssss… Boards on the bench, going to throw a Robogotchi and GPS module in from @DerelictRobot. Will the logs be awesome? Not yet, still geared for just 38mph slowness… When I get around to running 16s (Soon I’ve been told from @yelnats8j) it’ll be geared for 48mph, so some nice speedy goodness.

Next board will be a customer Choo Choo, should be a fun little ripper. But HOW THE HELL do people over 5’5 ride this thing!?! I’m 5’7 and it’s tiny!!! I want one though, so if anyone’s got one for sale soon I might be willing to trade some parts for it.

After that it’ll either be a customer board again or a personal board.

My personal board plan for 2021 is this. Emtb or KalyCat/Haero using the amazing @eBoosted enclosure. I want to make something small, powerful and fun for trails. This will also be my testing platform for DEEIF EMTB mounts!

I am making a new raceboard for 2021, and it will be a literal death board. Geared for 60mph, and more torque then you could possibly need  I can’t wait to finish it, it’ll be such a blast to ride and it’ll be my range board, so I can explore more of my area and ride some group rides…

Finally, I want to make a shortboard. I’ve got some special wheels on hand that seem to be in great demand… @b264 will be my inspiration for this one, and I hope to make it just a fun, nice shorty to grab n go do errands on.

Finally, thank you too everyone who voted for this build in BOTY 2020, in extremely grateful for winning and so next BOTY I’d like to give back, and I’ll be donating a bunch of Deeif original parts. We will see what I’ve built by then :man_shrugging: I’m also very excited to cook out some builds with the parts donated by the amazing vendors this year!

And with that, I can’t wait to see some of you at Barrett soon @Arzamenable @MoeStooge @370HSSV @Jansen and many more! Have a great rest of the week.

Thanks Mike! See you at barret, although I’m guessing I’ll be looking at your trucks most of the race

Dammit I’m bad at doing this on time… Well its a Tuesday update… Again… No excuse this time, just me being forgetful like usual.

Let’s start off here with the GROUND CONTROL updates! (Pics included as well)

So ground control has been on the bench the past two weeks, I was getting around to cleaning it and setting it up for Barrett. Like usual I was lazy and kept putting it off. Finally it was Saturday and since Barrett is this weekend I had no choice but to get to working on it.

I opened her up and started checking all the soldering etc. Then I glanced over at the Robogotchi (@DRI @DerelictRobot) I thought to myself, ā€œHey it’ll be an easy plug n play swap.ā€ Boy was I wrong. I didnt realize that Robo only ran on 5.0 and higher.

So I popped out the Metr I had sitting in there, and plugged the Robo + GPS Module in. Now I ran into a roadblock. I only had the download for 5.2, which is not yet supported by Robogotchi. Luckily @SeanHacker @poastoast and @BillGordon all sent me a DW link for a Vesc tool with FW 5.1. If you were wondering, I used @BillGordon’s download link.

Now I haven’t ran Vesc tool in awhile, and Ive actually never ran the official Vesc Tool. Only Ackmaniac in the past. Popped onto the wizards and got the board running in a couple of minutes. Checked Robo and everything was running alright! Success!

Well I have a Beta Gotchi enclosure from a little while back as you can see in the photos above. I had asked @DerelictRobot for one of the MJF ones a couple days ago, and being the amazing vendor he is, he sent me an MJF enclosure + a beta X brace that Renee made.

I kid you not, 5 minutes after putting the last screw in the enclosure the doorbell rings and my mom yells theirs a package for me. I run downstairs and pop it open, much to the excitement of seeing a STELLAR looking MJF case and an X Brace. Buttttttt I have to wait until after Barrett to put it in because I didnt have much time left.

Now I haven’t test rode the board since putting FW 5.1 on it, but I’ve been told its a pretty safe FW as long as s DC is at 85%. This scares me a little but I have zero time whatsoever to test ride the board until Thursday, and of course its meant to rain on Thursday. So I’m a little scared about that…

Other STUFF

I impulse bought an @surfnacho EMTB case and heat sink… Along with that I just ordered Heel Straps and Top F5 Bindings from ATBSHOP.Co.Uk. Now if you’ve caught onto what I’m saying… That’s right I’m building an emtb. I have a DW 2 coming as well with some Matrix 2 trucks thanks to some friends.

So Far I’ve got this for the EMTB:

  1. DW 2 Deck
  2. Full Set of F5 Bindings
  3. Matrix 2’s
  4. White Rockstar 2’s
  5. VESC Enclosure
  6. Sk3 Motors
  7. TB V6’s for it
  8. Pelican Case
  9. Robogotchi for it
  10. Tires

All that’s left is Battery and Drive system.

This is where I need your guys help… I would like to have a Range + a Jump battery, so I’m guessing one set of high AH Lipo’s and a set of Lightweight Low AH Lipo’s. What do you guys recommend Lipo wise? Along with that, EMTB dudes like @Rich @Venom121212 and @Andy87 would Velcro work to secure lipos to the deck?

Ugh, I feel like such a noob asking all these EMTB Questions. Anyways, I am probably going to use a @Boardnamics AT GD for it, should be pretty cheap and the steel in steel is perfect.

That’s all for this week! See y’all next week!

Killer update. Best of luck and safe wishes for Barrett, dude. Look out, Mario!

Thanks Bill! I’ll be eating Mario’s dust, I’ll have the slowest setup on the hill by far  I’m geared for 40, I think the closest is @Arzamenable geared for 50 something :joy: It’ll be fun though! Been awhile since I’ve seen Mario and Moe, and a hell of a longtime since I’ve seen Mike.

I had a good result with those

Mine are 6s, but seems they don’t sell them anymore
Even in 1p config there is like no voltage sag at all. They do get a bit buffy over time, but in my case they are still ok.
Probably not as good and long lasting as the graphens or tattus, but they are also a good amount cheaper (speaking of regular prices).
They do fit as well just right into those GoPro cases.

They are not really waterproof, but it’s fine.
I did fix those boxes with velcro and personally never had issues or something come lose. Just make sure the velcro sticks good enough to the box.

My suggestion would be, either you go multiple lipos in parallel. Like that you can split the pack if you want to get on a short jump session.
Or you just get a set of high C lipos in the 5-6.5Ah range for light weight and get a LiIon pack for range.
8p vtc6 or 6p p42 should be a nice pack and still jumpable with a bit practice.

Thanks Andy!!! This helps a TON! What Velcro did you use?
