Yesterday I met up with a local rider, he has a haero bro build but mostly rides EUC now. He showed me around the local trails. So many awesome places to ride here, Its also amazing how he shredded the EUC around, pretty agile and capable machiness for offroading. Dont worry though I wont convert to EUC though , not my thing.
Anyhow, we went up some pretty gnarly trails, lots of rocky and gravel parts. On one hill I was barely able to get grip and torque to get up, I pushed on the back like crazy which got me up in the end.

I asked him how these roads would feel with the bro deck and he mentioned it would probably suck because he got the stiff version. That got me thinking about the trampa deck, Im always amazed what trails I can actually traverse with my 8 inch wheels while still being comfortable most of the time. Im guessing my knees would get pretty fucked up with a stiffer deck, especially going downhill. Im interested in trying some other decks in the future though (like the E bro :smirk:)

@rich @Andy87 @Lee_Wright what do you guys think about this? I feel like the trampa deck absorbs impacts on the rocks, as opposed to a stiffer deck which would just bounce me and the whole deck out of controll. I guess a flexy bro deck would be middle ground here.

I can say that I haven’t been hooked from the first ride on my Bro deck. I even had pain in the legs and feet. It took me a while to adapt to a stiff deck after riding 15-16ply trampa decks for years.
Riding the Bro deck now most of the time for two seasons I don’t want to come back to flexy decks.
Reason for it is that a flexy deck can wobble you out on uneven terrain and there is very little you can do against it.
With a stiff deck it’s all up to you and your legwork. Ok, not always :joy: but in general I think you have more control over a stiff deck as it goes where you want it to go and doesn’t twist, flex or wobble in different directions.

As you already have a flexy deck with the Trampa deck, I personally would only choose the stiff Bro and not the Medium flex.

And don’t worry, even with the stiff Bro there is still enough flex for comfortable jumps.

These are my feelings also, would never go back to a flexy deck now. sure, 20 miles on an eMTB is a workout but hey I like it that way

Which tires?
IMO more important than the stiffness of the deck is the “stifness” of the tire.
For example riding a ultrastiff MBS DWII deck with soft rubber tires (e.g. MBS T1) is much more comfortable than riding a flexy Trampa deck with hard nylon tires e.g. 9" T2 or the worst: 8" CLEVER tires!

A Trampa deck is fine (for some time, in my case more than 3 years) but when you start to ride faster in offroad conditions you need more control.

Thanks @Andy87 @Lee_Wright @rich I guess I better start saving up for the soon to be released E bro deck then

Im running prima alpha tires, which are fairly soft I reckon. I have to say the point rich brought up with the soft tires makes sense. I want to try some different tire hardnesses to get a feel for the difference.
