Good Deals Thread

I just wanted to brag about my recent good deal finds.

So initially I found an Exway Flex Riot, First gen for 250ish euro and it seemed way to good of a deal and I bought it as a secondary board.

Then a month later, i found an Exway Flex Riot, First gen (Updated version) for 250 euro again BUT! It came with TWO sets of hydro wheels, a set of 90mm exway urethanes and another set of 83mm exway wheels i believe. Ontop of that, it came with 2 extra sets of belts, 2 extra sets of wheel pulleys, an extra set of bushings, precision busing caps. 3 of the wheel sets were new. I can’t believe i found ALL of this for 250 euro. Just a set of hydro wheels go for 100eur used.

I’ve been working on upgrading a meepo hurricane and found a pair of BN 270mm trucks, BN XL Precision mounts with idlers, Flipsky BH 6374 170KV motors, MBS Nylon hubs + 200mm street tyres (low mileage) with tubes, and they were balanced, for 200eur total.

insane.

$179 for the 6s 20ah Lipos

Not often do they go on sale and at that price a
20ah 12s Battery is under $400, including a charge only bms

Today I put on a jacket for the first time in half a year. I am taking a week of leave, first time in more than a year.

This is also my first puck ever.

To the topic at hand, @b264 the mini remote is $10 on Amazon. I got 5 just in case this flu season heralds shortages, the AI Machines anwaken , and American democracy cumbles this election season.

(The ChatGPT and Claude are great for answering vesctool questions and general BLCD control theory I’ve been too embarrassed to ask, could it recognize this deal? Doubtful )

Looks like a good deal do they d/c in intersections still? i was able to get a local agent to query duck duck go and search web with mixed results running on a 4080 inference.

If you don’t trust it, I’m not here to fight for a remotes honor. Any hiccups I’ve ever witnessed with this remote has been disconnects due to wear on the battery terminal compression contacts.

I avoid remotes I suspect burned me, even to an irrational degree.

A few hard remote drops will introduce play on the contacts. I do remember your warnings about possible noncompliance with western RF standards. I am reassured by the tiny screw driver that comes with every remote :tada::screwdriver::partying_face:

(Ergonomics are terrible. I do hate that. )

The new Mini Remotes are pieces of garbage. I don’t know why. Only the older ones work worth a shit.

I still use older ones all the time, even in Manhattan.

Agreed, I’ve had 2 or 3 receivers that came BNIB broken/faulty in the last year or two. Old mini remotes still going strong.

Post PCBs or gtfo. Jk, curious to see circuit revisions. I guess when the new ones arrive, I’ll dig up the retired pcbs and post comparisons

The receivers PCB or the remote? I dont think my problems have ever stemmed from the remote, despite the PCBs for the mini changing a TON over the years, but I’d be happy to crack open the dangerous receivers if you’re serious.

Aside from broken antenna and reversed power and signal, I never considered that gremlins could hide in receivers.

They have a really weird failure mode, pairs fine, sets min/max PPM values properly in VESC tool, sets fail-safe properly but after about 3-5 minutes of being powered it would give minimum PPM value regardless of trigger position and I’d have to turn the remote off. I’ll crack it open today, dont know enough to say what would cause it.

That’s a different failure mode than I’ve had, which is just frequent small cutouts on the newer models only.

My cutouts steamed from faulty power switches . Also had one reverse power and start smoking inside my kids backpack at school.
