holy shit
Amazon Warehouse has a few Meanwell HLG series LED power supplies for cheap. These are CC/CV and make great battery chargers if you have a BMS that shuts off the charge current at the end of the charge.
The HLG series are adjustable voltage and current. They usually put out about an amp more than they are listed for when used as a charger. They are silent and fanless, but slightly heavier than regular chargers. They also come with bare ends, so they need both the 120v plug and a charging plug.
EDIT: all warehouse deals sold out
HLG-120H-48A - 12s @ 3.5A - $13 - Datasheet
HLG-150H-48A - 12s @ 4.2A - $16 - Datasheet
HLG-240H-48A - 12s @ 6A - $35 - Datasheet
That first one is only listed as 2.5amps not 3.5A, then the one you list as 4.2A is only 3.2A , and the one you marked at 6A is only 5A. Also those are all only 48 v chargers so they arenât any good as 12s chargers.
Theyâre all too high for a 10s battery pack but I think theyâd be good for 11s? Maybe theyâd be an okay cheap 12s battery pack if youâre okay only charging your pack to 48V instead of the standard 50.4V ![]()
I have a bunch of these. The specs are because they are LED drivers, so you still want some voltage at max current. When used as a battery charger, they output a bit more current. Iâve used the 150, 185 and 480 versions of these and they all put out about an amp more when charging.
The voltage can be adjusted from about 43v to 53v (check the datasheet for exact voltages). This means it works fine at 12s (50.4v), but you can also reduce the voltage if you want to deliberately undercharge your pack, say 4v per cell, to add some cycle life to it if you donât need the full range.
They also have a bunch of safety certifications, include power factor correction, and run off 120v or 240v.
The only real difference between these and a regular battery charger is that they donât turn off when the charge is done. This isnât a huge deal as you are only putting in a few mA at that point, but they should be either manually unplugged when fully charged or let the BMS shut off the charge current. Most smart BMSs will handle this.
not in europe. ![]()
With the code CARVEMORE these are only $30 a pair⌠sheesh. Anyone tried them?
I just received some the other day. I posted in the newbie section and one has a casting issue on the bushing seat.
Not sure if this will affect the truck negatively or not.
I am waiting on some axle spacers to arrive so I can test them.
Here are the pics so you can see what I mean.
Iâve tried them. Pretty similar in quality to a standard caliber II or Paris truck. Probably not the best for super hard riding or heavy riders. It gets the job done most of the time though.

god damnit, I paid over 220⏠for my Evo 40. Stellar deal right there.
If you need those weird Evolve BMS cables
Normally id buy these up but i wanted to share the deal with others.
I donât think that little defect will cause any issues, but if you want to be extra safe you can use a dremel to sand it down. Iâve seen similar issues like that from other trucks and none of them ever caused problems. It isnât even a visual issue since when installed on a baseplate you wonât ever see that defect.
This is a ridiculous deal but if I buy any more batteries Iâll need a divorce lawyer ![]()
