General DIY audio project thread

Tested a bunch of random components and replaced a few obvious ones to no avail.

I built these in the spring with old Philips parts. I really liked the sound of some DIY thrift store speakers but didn’t like the old style boxes built in the 70’s.

They have a very basic 4 way crossover, then I run a single miniDSP HD to them both. The miniDSP has been set up with a calibrated microphone with room sweeps. They sound amazing but have some stuff to work out. It’s a hexagon at the top that sort of turns into a triangle at the bottom to get asymmetric sides and reduce standing waves inside the boxes. The idea was to embellish these old Philips parts because they’re always found in some of the most dogshit rough and ready boxes. They play easily to like 25hz but the midrange is super nice sounding. The tweeter is good, I prefer the sound of a planar or ribbon tweeter but I wanted to keep the parts within the same era.
