GB Remote Lite - Open Source VESC remote

the current firmware supports up to 4 vescs on the CAN bus and controls them independently

but that can be extended to support more vescs

it can be done, there’s support for 4 motors now, and i’ll work on having mixed devices on the can so the receiver can cleanly handle different IDs an so on..

I’ll be putting this on my AWD build, I’d love to help develop AWD specific features. Like this one

@jack.luis I understand, that could be easily done with my hw since it already owns the full input pipeline there is so much more flexibility.
We could have an option on the web config tool where you could configure (rpm config, max rpm, max speed…. whatever) and activate it (double press on power button, press and hold) and then the receiver would take care of switching from set_current_rel to set_rpm achieving what you want

and since you bought one remote from my store, YOU can name that feature, we implement and deploy it to everyone, what do you say?

What can I do to help make this happen? I want to offer vantablack as a test platform and love the idea of open source everything! Can’t wait to receive my remote!

we can go though this, maybe starting with a requirements list, i implement, we release it and test it in the field with whoever wants to test it out, we gather feedback and so forth!
what is vantablack? is that the feature name?

I runned out of transparent cases for the lite, I have a batch running in production (the transparent casing is pretty tricky to get it right and i’m struggling to keep up to quality, but will keep offering it since its so cool)

Soon I’ll send your remote!

Sorry, vantablack is the name of my mountain board build

@georgebenett did you manage ti ship my ORDER #1017 by any chance? Thanks

Nice catch, the ppm mode doesn’t have this problem but the nunchuck mode has a different logic  . I think we should update the vesc firmware

not yet I don’t have dual black resin in stock, it should take around 2 weeks, then i’ll ship yours and @jack.luis

we would need to send a PR and pray to vedder to get it merged

I have that same thing in my left shoulder but extensively worse as the surrounding parts where also fucked, take the time to really do the therapy right once you get the green light.

thanks! i got green light, im back at the gym and riding the board every day, im testing emergency breaking this week (failsafe ramp down)

that is a major improvement in safety, since my biggest goal and main drive for making my own remote was safety and reliability

Once I have my Dyno running I could test these failure modes

cool! I’ve made a sketchy one but it was enough to test it out and evaluate, i’ll upload videos of it in action soon

here’s the failsafe demo: https://youtube.com/shorts/vhHep3LNoyI?is=qgmdLMQILd2agy3f
